Job summary

NOVA-TECH MFG PTE. LTD. is seeking a tooling and CNC support specialist to manage tooling inventory, perform tool presetting, and assist in CNC setup for multi-axis machines. You will collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure tool readiness and process stability.

You will participate in NPI trials and First Article activities, assemble tools/fixtures per drawings, and uphold 5S and safety standards on the shop floor. East Region relocation considerations apply.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Higher Nitec, or Nitec in Mechanical, Precision, Manufacturing Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years of CNC machining and tooling experience.
• Able to read engineering drawings and machining tolerances.
• Willing to work overtime or shifts and in the East Region (Changi North Crescent).

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate tooling inventory records and issue/receive tools per MO and production needs.
• Perform tool presetting and measurement; verify offsets before production release.
• Assemble tooling and fixtures per drawings and setup sheets; label with IDs and revisions.
• Inspect, maintain, and manage tooling, fixtures, and tool crib equipment; ensure 5S and safety.
• Support production and Engineering teams to resolve tooling and machining issues; participate in NPI and trials.
• Assist CNC teams with machine setup, offsets, and process improvements.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1.Tooling Inventory Control & Planning

• Maintain accurate inventory records for cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, spare parts, and consumables.
• Issue and receive tools according to MO, part numbers, and production requirements.
• Monitor tooling consumption, tool life, regrind cycles, scrap status, and replacement needs.
• Conduct tooling receiving inspections and ensure proper storage, labelling, identification, and segregation of tooling.

2. Tool Presetting, Measurement& CNC Setup Support

• Perform tool presetting and measurement using Haimer tool presetters, including tool length, diameter, corner radius, runout, and balancing checks.
• Verify and adjust tool offsets before releasing tools to production.
• Support CNC machine setup activities, including machine preparation, workpiece setup, tool setting, and offset adjustments.
• Support machining operations on 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining centers.

3. Tool& Fixture Assembly

• Assemble cutting tools according to tooling lists and setup requirements.
• Assemble fixtures based on approved engineering drawings and setup sheets.
• Verify fixture orientation, datum alignment, clamping methods, and torque requirements.
• Label fixtures with identification numbers, revision levels, and usage status.
• Prepare tooling and fixture kits for NPI, FA, trial runs, and production activities.

4. Tool Maintenance, Documentation & Housekeeping

• Inspect, maintain, and manage tooling, fixtures, and tool crib equipment.
• Monitor tool condition and coordinate repair, regrinding, or replacement.
• Maintain accurate tooling records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, 5S, and safety requirements.

5.Production & Engineering Support

• Support production and CNC teams in resolving tooling and machining issues.
• Trouble shoot tooling, setup, and process-related problems.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams on tooling optimization and process improvements.
• Support NPI, machining trials, and First Article activities.

6.Equipment & Machining Support

• Support machining activities involving DMU, YOUJI, Kitamura, Mazak, and other CNC machining centers.
• Ensure tooling and machining activities are performed according to established quality and production requirements.

7. Team Leadership & Training

• Supervise daily tool crib operations and tooling preparation activities.
• Assign and monitor work to support production schedules.
• Train and assess team competency, including equipment certification.
• Promote safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Diploma, Higher Nitec, or Nitec in Mechanical, Precision, Manufacturing Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years of CNC machiningand tooling experience.
• Able to read engineering drawingsand machining tolerances.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, tool life management, and CNC controls is an advantage.
• Experience operating or supporting multi-axis CNC machining centers is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, good teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with Production and Engineering teams.
• Willing to work overtime or shifts when required.
• Willing to work in the East Region, Changi North Crescent.
