About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloudera & Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support enterprise‑grade database and big data platforms across Windows and Linux environments. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, performance tuning, security, and high availability of Cloudera Data Platform, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server systems.
Cloudera expertise is mandatory. You will work closely with application teams, infrastructure engineers, and security specialists to design and maintain resilient, secure, and high‑performing data platforms that support mission‑critical business applications.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle Database (12c/19c/21c) on Windows and Linux.
- Install, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) on Windows platforms.
- Manage database users, roles, privileges, and storage structures.
- Perform routine maintenance, patching, and performance tuning.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and SQL Server native tools.
Big Data & Cloudera Platform Administration
- Install, configure, and manage Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) – Private and Public Cloud.
- Administer Hadoop ecosystem components: HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala, HBase, Spark, Kafka, NiFi.
- Manage cluster capacity planning, resource allocation, and workload distribution.
- Configure and manage Cloudera Manager for centralized monitoring and administration.
- Implement data ingestion pipelines and ETL workflows.
- Manage HDFS quotas, replication, snapshots, and data lifecycle policies.
- Optimize Hive Metastore, partitioning strategies, and query performance.
- Configure and manage Apache Ranger for centralized security and data governance.
High Availability & Replication
- Configure and support Oracle Data Guard for disaster recovery.
- Implement Oracle GoldenGate for real‑time data replication.
- Administer SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances (FCI).
- Configure HDFS High Availability (NameNode and ResourceManager failover).
- Manage HBase replication and region server load balancing.
Performance & Optimization
- Analyze and tune SQL queries, indexes, and database parameters.
- Use AWR, ADDM (Oracle) and Query Store, Extended Events (SQL Server).
- Optimize Hive, Impala, Spark, and YARN performance.
- Conduct cluster performance assessments and implement optimization recommendations.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance standards (e.g. MAS TRM, ISO 27001).
- Configure Ranger RBAC, data masking, and auditing policies.
- Enable encryption at rest (HDFS TDE) and in transit (TLS/SSL).
- Integrate Ranger with LDAP / Active Directory.
- Implement data lineage and auditing using Cloudera Navigator or Atlas.
Monitoring, Automation & Operations
- Implement proactive monitoring using OEM, SSMS, and third‑party tools.
- Develop automation scripts using Shell, PowerShell, or Python.
- Configure Cloudera Manager alerts, diagnostics, and health checks.
- Implement log aggregation and analysis (ELK, Splunk).
- Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Chef, or scripts.
Disaster Recovery & Documentation
- Conduct DR drills and validate failover/failback procedures.
- Design and implement HDFS BDR strategies (snapshots, distcp, replication).
- Maintain detailed documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience in:
- Relational Databases (Oracle / MS SQL), or Big Data Platforms (Hadoop, Hive, Cloudera), or Database Activity Monitoring tools (Imperva, Guardium, DataSunrise).
- Strong experience with Oracle Data Guard and Oracle GoldenGate.
- Hands‑on experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and FCI.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux (Red Hat, Oracle Linux).
- Solid understanding of networking, storage, and OS fundamentals.
Technical Skills
- Oracle: 12c/19c/21c (RAC, ASM, RMAN, OEM)
