Job summary

APAR TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. is seeking a Backend Engineer to drive a Hadoop data platform modernisation. The role focuses on Java backend development, application enhancements, platform migration, testing, troubleshooting and production support in a Singapore-based team.

You will analyse legacy applications, develop APIs, support data-layer modernisation, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth delivery and stabilised production systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Java backend development for enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience with Hadoop/HDFS or distributed data platforms.
• Experience building REST APIs and backend integrations.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Spring Framework.
• Experience with Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience with software testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Experience supporting platform migration or application modernisation projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyse existing applications, services, and batch processes to identify changes.
• Develop and enhance Java backend applications, services, APIs, and integrations.
• Support Hadoop platform and data-layer modernisation activities.
• Assist with platform migration and compatibility activities.
• Perform unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
• Investigate defects, performance issues, and deployment challenges.
• Support deployment, release validation, and production stabilisation.
• Troubleshoot and tune performance in distributed data environments.
• Maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Collaborate with development, QA, infra, and architecture teams to deliver the project.
