You will enhance backend services, integrate with existing systems, and help migrate platforms while ensuring stability, testing, and operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Strong Java backend development experience.
• Hadoop ecosystem knowledge, including HDFS.
• Experience with distributed data platforms and large-scale apps.
• Spring Boot / Spring Framework proficiency.
• REST API development experience.
• Linux/Unix shell scripting skills.
• Version control with Git, Bitbucket and Jira workflows.
• Troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Java backend services and APIs.

Backend Engineer (Java/Hadoop)

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with strong Java and Hadoop expertise to support a Hadoop data layer modernization initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for application enhancements, backend integration, platform migration activities, testing support, troubleshooting, and production stabilization within a distributed data processing environment.

Project Goals

1. Support application modernization and platform transition activities.
2. Ensure application stability, compatibility, and performance throughout the project lifecycle.
3. Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues arising from platform changes.
4. Implement required backend enhancements and remediation work.
5. Validate application functionality through testing and quality assurance activities.
6. Support successful deployment and operational readiness.

Project Scope

The project primarily involves:

1. Impact Assessment
   Analyze existing application components, services, and batch processes to identify areas requiring modification.
2. Application Enhancement & Remediation
   Design and implement code changes to support evolving platform requirements while preserving existing business functionality.
3. Backend Development & Integration
   Develop and enhance Java backend services, APIs, and integration components.
4. Testing & Validation
   Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and regression testing to ensure solution quality.
5. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
   Investigate and resolve application defects, performance issues, and deployment challenges.
6. Deployment & Production Support
   Support deployment activities, release validation, and post-implementation stabilization.
7. Documentation
   Maintain technical documentation, implementation artifacts, and operational procedures.
8. Collaboration
   Work closely with development, QA, infrastructure, and architecture teams to ensure successful delivery.

Project Milestone

1. Successful completion of development of project objectives.
2. Successful completion of regression, considering both functional and performance testing
3. Support and follow through all deployment milestones.
4. Complete technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
