APAR TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. is seeking a Backend Engineer to drive a Hadoop data platform modernisation. The role focuses on Java backend development, application enhancements, platform migration, testing, troubleshooting and production support in a Singapore-based team.

You will analyse legacy applications, develop APIs, support data-layer modernisation, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth delivery and stabilised production systems.

Qualifications

Proven experience in Java backend development for enterprise applications.
Hands-on experience with Hadoop/HDFS or distributed data platforms.
Experience building REST APIs and backend integrations.
Experience with Spring Boot or Spring Framework.
Experience with Linux and shell scripting.
Experience with software testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
Experience supporting platform migration or application modernisation projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

Analyse existing applications, services, and batch processes to identify changes.
Develop and enhance Java backend applications, services, APIs, and integrations.
Support Hadoop platform and data-layer modernisation activities.
Assist with platform migration and compatibility activities.
Perform unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
Investigate defects, performance issues, and deployment challenges.
Support deployment, release validation, and production stabilisation.
Troubleshoot and tune performance in distributed data environments.
Maintain technical documentation and procedures.
Collaborate with development, QA, infra, and architecture teams to deliver the project.

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to support a Hadoop data platform modernisation project. The role will focus on Java backend development, application enhancements, platform migration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse existing applications, services, and batch processes to identify required changes.
Develop and enhance Java backend applications, services, APIs, and integration components.
Support Hadoop platform and data-layer modernisation activities.
Implement application changes required for platform compatibility and migration.
Perform unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
Investigate and resolve application defects, performance issues, and deployment challenges.
Support application deployment, release validation, and production stabilisation.
Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning in distributed data environments.
Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
Work with development, QA, infrastructure, and architecture teams to support project delivery.
