Job summary

Orka Consulting Partners seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to bridge traditional PLC automation with OT cybersecurity in pharmaceutical environments. You will support validated systems, configuration management and CSV deliverables.

The role emphasizes Siemens/AB PLCs, GMP compliance, and collaboration with clients and project teams in regulated manufacturing settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' PLC/Automation experience; senior level possible with >5 years.
• Strong PLC knowledge; Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley experience preferred.
• Pharma manufacturing experience preferred.
• OT/IT cybersecurity awareness beneficial; training provided.
• Able to work with clients and technical teams in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Understand PLC system architecture, software storage locations and configuration structures.
• Bridge traditional automation with OT cybersecurity use cases.
• Read and interpret PLC configurations, technical docs and system setup details.
• Support automation, IT/OT and OT cybersecurity software deployments at pharma sites.
• Ensure validated automation and cybersecurity systems meet regulatory and GMP requirements.
• Support configuration management, change control and version tracking for OT software assets.
• Support computer systems validation activities across automation and OT systems.
• Assist with recovery and restoration workflows after cyber incidents or system failures.
• Contribute to CSV deliverables, with exposure to DeltaV and validation relevant.
• Work within Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC environments.

• Apply PLC domain knowledge to bridge traditional automation environments with OT cybersecurity use cases.
• Read and interpret PLC-related configurations, technical documentation and system setup details.
• Support automation, IT/OT and OT cybersecurity software deployments at pharmaceutical manufacturing sites.
• Work with client and project teams to ensure validated automation and cybersecurity systems meet regulatory and GMP requirements.
• Support configuration management, change control and version tracking for OT software assets.
• Support computer systems validation activities across automation and OT systems.
• Assist with recovery and restoration workflows following ransomware attacks, cyber incidents or system failures.
• Contribute to CSV deliverables, with exposure to DeltaV and automation-related validation particularly relevant.
• Work within existing Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
• At least three years of experience in PLC / Automation-related work.
• Candidates with > 5 years of relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Automation Engineer position.
• Strong PLC knowledge is essential. Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLC systems is preferred.
• Experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• OT or IT cybersecurity awareness is beneficial, but direct cybersecurity experience is not required. Technical training will be provided.
• Comfortable working with clients and technical teams in regulated manufacturing environments.
