Coalesce Management Consulting Pte. Limited in Singapore seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to support automation lifecycle upgrades and manufacturing expansion projects in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment.

You will contribute from requirements through commissioning, configuring PLC, HMI, and SCADA using Siemens and Rockwell platforms, and ensure compliance with GMP, validation practices, and data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Control, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Approximately five years of relevant experience in industrial automation, controls engineering or process automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens automation platforms such as S7 PLCs, TIA Portal, WinCC and/or PCS 7.
  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation platforms such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View.
  • Experience in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA configuration, industrial communication networks, field devices and control-panel interfaces.
  • Experience supporting design, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification, troubleshooting and system handover.

Responsibilities

  • Support automation lifecycle upgrades and automation workstreams for manufacturing expansion projects.
  • Develop, review and execute automation engineering deliverables, including URS, FDS, HDS, I/O lists and control narratives; alarm/interlock matrices; risk assessments and change controls; testing, commissioning and turnover documentation.
  • Configure, modify, troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA applications using Siemens and Rockwell platforms.
  • Prepare and execute FAT, SAT, AIQ, AOQ, commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Participate in system design reviews, equipment-vendor discussions, technical assessments and integration activities.
  • Perform onsite testing, commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting while minimising disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure automation solutions comply with site standards, cybersecurity requirements, data-integrity expectations, validation practices and GMP regulations.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Maintenance, Engineering and external vendors to deliver project milestones.
  • Maintain accurate, controlled and inspection-ready engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support commissioning, shutdown or start-up activities outside normal working hours where required.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support automation lifecycle upgrades and manufacturing expansion projects within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment.

You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle—from requirements definition and detailed design through PLC, HMI and SCADA configuration, testing, commissioning, start-up and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Control, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately five years of relevant experience in industrial automation, controls engineering or process automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens automation platforms such as S7 PLCs, TIA Portal, WinCC and/or PCS 7.
  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation platforms such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View.
  • Experience in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA configuration, industrial communication networks, field devices and control-panel interfaces.
  • Experience supporting design, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification, troubleshooting and system handover.
  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical-device or other regulated manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with GMP, CSV/CSA, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, data integrity and validation practices would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical documentation, troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Safety-focused, practical and detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
