Job summary

A leading marine contractor in Singapore is seeking a proactive individual to manage production works and ensure the safe execution of projects while maintaining good customer relations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, at least 2 years of experience in the marine industry, and strong leadership and interpersonal skills. This position involves managing project specifications, safety meetings, and direct customer interactions.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Lead a project team to manage and supervise execution of production works and ensure delivery of assigned projects.
  • Plan and prioritise the order of works and work methodology.
  • Liaise with the project team to allocate adequate manpower and equipment resources.
  • Monitor work progress on board vessels and in workshops.
  • Chair production meetings between Yard’s subcontractors, supervisor and ship’s staff to clarify work scope, co‑ordinate sequence of work, update schedules and other contractual matters.
  • Ensure works are carried out according to the job specifications in terms of quantity, quality and meeting Class/Owner requirements by developing commissioning / mechanical completion test plans and arranging for inspection and survey for the Superintendents and Classification.
  • Any other associated tasks and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
WSH Management
  • Chair the Vessel’s Safety Co‑ordination Committee Meetings to facilitate the safe execution of works in particular, hot work, incompatible work and potentially hazardous work.
  • Administer, monitor and continuously ensure that all operations conform to safety requirements of the Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) Policy of the Yard.
  • Be responsible for the overall safety and health of the work force under his supervision and charge.
Contract and Cost Management
  • Act as shipyard’s main representative and be responsible for the refit / conversion / new build of the vessel as per owner’s contractual specifications / requirements.
  • Administer the project specification and incorporate any changes in the work scope in the defect list.
  • Assist to quote for work variations and facilitate billing as required.
  • Maximise returns to shipyard and maintain project cost control.
  • Establish and maintain an effective good project HSEQ programme to meet the established targets.
Customer Relations
  • Provide customer service, taking care of the needs of the Superintendent and Ship’s Officers.
  • Good rapport and relationship with ship owners and representatives.
  • Act as project key contact person, actively involved in business / public relations through marketing visits, promotional activities and business entertainment.
Other Features of Job (Special requirement, shift or night work, travel, working conditions etc.)
  • Knowledge of various workshops dealing with specialised works in the industry.
  • Performs scheduled night duties and when required.
  • Attends to vessel’s need during weekends and public holidays.
  • Travels within the country or abroad for ship check or assist settlement of bills.
  • To drive innovation and continual improvement.
Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relevant apprenticeship training in a marine trade.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a marine industry.
  • Good leadership skills and a good team player.
  • Possess interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working under pressure.
