What the role is

As part of the Strategic Communications and Media Relations team, you will develop and execute public communications strategies and plans, to make complex energy issues clear and relatable. This includes working closely with the media to bridge gaps in energy awareness and understanding. The role also involves the use of data and insights to strengthen how EMA communicates and engages the public. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help ensure consistent narratives across all communications channels.

What you will be working on

• Strategic Communications: Develop comprehensive communication strategies and campaigns, and shape narratives to raise awareness, educate, and inform the public about energy-related initiatives, policies, and programmes. This would include collaborating with colleagues to shape communications plans, identify risks and opportunities, and presenting proposed plans to key stakeholders where required.
• Content Development: Be a storyteller and create compelling and impactful content for various platforms. These would include materials such as media releases, pitches, and content for other public communications channels.
• Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets to develop stories, facilitate accurate reporting, as well as manage media enquiries and engagements.
• Research and Insights: Gather and analyse data to evaluate the effectiveness of public communication strategies and identify areas for improvement.
• Issue and Crisis Communications: Manage issues and crisis communications when required. Participate in crisis communications exercises as part of emergency preparedness measures.
• Internal Communication: Help ensure colleagues are informed of key initiatives and latest news.

What we are looking for
