Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years in finance and accounting.
• 2-3 years supervisory or managerial experience in commercial outfits.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Professional qualifications such as CA/CPA/ACCA are preferred.

Position Overview

The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with statutory requirements, and timely management reporting. Leading a team of two finance professionals, the Finance Manager will provide guidance, review key accounting activities, and partner with business stakeholders to support operational and strategic decision-making. This role requires a hands‑on finance leader who can balance day‑to‑day financial management with business partnering and cost analysis, process improvement initiatives, and continuous enhancement of financial controls and systems.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Closing

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Review journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the finance team.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/FRS, company accounting policies, and statutory requirements.
• Prepare and review management accounts, financial analysis, and variance reports for management review.
• Support group financial reporting and consolidation requirements.

Accounting Operations& Controls

• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, fixed assets, and treasury activities performed by the finance team.
• Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements.
• Review accounting treatments and provide guidance on technical accounting matters.
• Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

Costing & Manufacturing Finance

• Review product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost allocations.
• Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and provide insights to operations management.
• Monitor inventory accuracy and support periodic stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve cost visibility and operational performance.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering

• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecast exercises.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Provide financial analysis and decision-support for business initiatives, investments, and operational improvements.
• Partner with department heads to drive accountability for financial performance.

Treasury & Cash Management

• Oversee cash flow planning, working capital management, and banking activities.
• Monitor receivables, payables, and liquidity requirements.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

• Coordinate external and internal audits and ensure timely resolution of audit matters.
• Manage tax compliance requirements, including corporate tax, GST/VAT, withholding taxes, and other statutory filings.
• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial firms, and regulatory authorities.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two finance staff.
• Review work performed by team members and ensure high standards of accuracy and accountability.
• Establish clear priorities, provide coaching, and support professional development.
• Foster a collaborative and continuous improvement culture within the finance function.

Projects & Process Improvement

• Participate in ERP enhancements, finance transformation initiatives, and system implementations.
• Drive automation and process improvements to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Support ad-hoc projects, business initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and strategic assignments as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 2-3 years of relevant external audit experience.
• Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity in commercial outfits.
• Experience in manufacturing environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, internal controls, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience in costing, inventory accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Relevant exposure in ERP and group consolidation software would be an added advantage.
