Public Service Division is seeking an Assistant Director, CCA Training & Programmes to lead strategic student development initiatives. The role focuses on designing engaging CCA and wellness programmes, governance and policy oversight, and risk-aware operational excellence.

You will drive stakeholder collaboration, partner with community organisations, and mentor senior staff to strengthen capability in governance, engagement, and safety management within a two-year contract.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience in student development or youth-focused roles.
  • Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience in student development or related programmes.
  • Experience in governance, policy review, SOP implementation and duty-of-care requirements.
  • Strong programme and event management skills with end-to-end planning and vendor coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders; certifications in safety or risk management are an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, curate and implement CCA and wellness programmes to drive student participation and holistic growth.
  • Oversee governance frameworks, policies, and SOPs to ensure safe, compliant delivery.
  • Establish escalation and incident management processes for safety and risk compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to maximise programme impact.
  • Coach and mentor managers to build capability in student engagement, governance and risk management.

Job description

What the role is

This is a 2-year contract position as an Assistant Director, CCA Training & Programmes in the Student Development Office.

What you will be working on

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Strategic Leadership & Student Development

Develop, curate and implement an appropriate and appealing suite of CCA and physical wellness programmes that drive student participation and support the development of holistic competencies, well-being and personal growth beyond the classroom.

2. Governance, Policy & Quality Assurance

Review and provide oversight of CCA governance frameworks, policies, and standard operating procedures to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality programme delivery in alignment with institutional requirements.

3. Operational Excellence & Incident Management

Establish clear escalation and decision-making frameworks, ensuring student-related incidents, including injuries, safety and compliance issues, are resolved through timely intervention, clear escalation protocols, and systemic corrective and preventive actions.

4. Stakeholder Management & Partnerships

Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align student development initiatives across the Polytechnic, and build and sustain strong partnerships with community organisations and external stakeholders to enhance programme impact and student development outcomes.

5. People Leadership & Capability Development

Coach and mentor Senior Managers and Managers to strengthen individual and team effectiveness, foster a collaborative culture and build staff capabilities in student engagement, governance and risk management, while supporting professional development and well-being.

What we are looking for
  • A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Education, Social Sciences, Sports/Health Sciences, Business or Public Administration) or equivalent professional experience in student development or youth-focused roles.
  • Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience in student development, youth engagement, co-curricular, education or similar programmes, ideally in a tertiary or youth-serving organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in governance and compliance, including implementation and review of policies and SOPs, ensuring duty-of-care requirements, managing incident reporting and escalation processes.
  • Strong programme and event management experience, including end-to-end planning cycles, coordination with internal stakeholders and external vendors or coaches, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and engage external partners to support effective programme delivery.
  • Advantage: Relevant certifications or training in safety, risk management, first aid, programme management, and familiarity with CCA ecosystems and safety management for student activities.
