Job description

Salary Range: SGD 5,500 – SGD 8,800 per month (Commensurate with experience)

Recruit123 is currently partnering with an innovative biotechnology organization to hire an Assay Development Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design, optimization, and validation of novel bioanalytical assays and screening platforms supporting early-stage drug discovery, translational medicine, and diagnostic development programs.

What you will be doing:

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and characterizing robust biochemical, immunological, and cell-based assays for therapeutic candidate profiling or biomarker validation.

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include establishing assay platforms (such as ELISA, multiplex immunoassays, flow cytometry, qPCR, enzymatic assays, or reporter gene assays), optimizing analytical performance parameters (sensitivity, specificity, dynamic range, and reproducibility), and troubleshooting complex technical roadblocks.

You will apply Design of Experiments (DoE) principles, analyze high-dimensional biological data using statistical software, and maintain meticulous laboratory documentation in accordance with quality management guidelines. Additionally, you will draft standard operating procedures (SOPs), validation protocols, and technical reports, support the tech transfer of developed assays to analytical testing teams or external CRO partners, and present scientific findings to cross-functional R&D project teams.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking candidates with a PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline, with at least 2 to 5 years of hands‑on assay development experience within an industry biotechnology setting or high-impact translational research laboratory.

You should have demonstrated technical expertise in developing in vitro bioassays, binding assays, or cell-based functional assays, paired with solid proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism, JMP, SoftMax Pro). A structured problem-solving mindset, high attention to experimental rigor, excellent written and oral scientific communication skills, and the collaborative agility to thrive in a fast-paced discovery environment are essential.
