Sciente International Pte Ltd is seeking an AI Officer (Insurance) to bridge insurers’ business and technology teams, bringing deep domain expertise and hands-on data and delivery background. You will translate underwriting, claims, distribution and policy servicing needs into AI-enabled solutions and work with MAS guidelines to govern risk.

Role purpose

The AI Officer (Insurance) is the trusted bridge between insurers’ business and technology teams and Sciente. You bring deep insurance domain expertise and a hands-on data & technology delivery background; we train you in AI so you can turn insurers’ real business problems into AI use cases that get conceptualised, delivered and governed.

You will speak the language of underwriting, claims, distribution and policy servicing with business leaders, regulatory requirements of MAS, and the language of architecture, delivery and risk with IT, then translate both into solutions Sciente can deliver.

Key responsibilities

Forward Deployed Officer

• Act as Sciente's senior insurance voice with client business heads in underwriting, claims, distribution (agency, bancassurance, direct), policy servicing, group and health.
• Identify and shape AI and data use cases with measurable value, e.g. claims triage and assessment, fraud detection, underwriting support, lead management, customer servicing.
• Build business cases with client stakeholders covering value, cost, risk and delivery effort.

Bridging business, technology and Sciente

• Translate business needs into clear requirements and solution outlines for client IT teams and Sciente's delivery and data teams.
• Work with client IT, architecture and vendor teams to assess data readiness, integration (APIs, core policy and claims systems) and delivery constraints.
• Co-design solutions with Sciente consultants using our partner platforms (Dataiku, Denodo, Neo4j).

Delivery oversight and AI governance

• Oversee or guide AI engagements through to production, using Agile or Waterfall as fits the client.
• Champion responsible AI as per frameworks suggested by MAS with clients: model risk, explainability, data protection and regulatory expectations for insurers.
• Track outcomes after go-live and report realised value to client sponsors.

Requirements

Insurance domain expertise (mandatory)

• 15+ years in insurance, mostly within insurers (life, general, health or group), in technology, delivery or demand roles.
• Working knowledge of core insurance processes: new business and underwriting, policy administration and servicing, claims, and distribution across agency, bancassurance and direct channels.
• Track record delivering insurance platforms such as advisor sales tools, e-submission, customer and agent portals, quotation, claims or policy systems.
• Experience across more than one Asian market (e.g. Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam) is a strong plus.

Technology foundation (mandatory)

• Hands-on background in application development or solution design, progressing into technology leadership.
• Proven project or programme management of large, mission-critical delivery; PMP or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with Agile delivery (squads, demand and delivery management) as well as Waterfall.
• Exposure to APIs and integration, digital and mobile products, and enterprise architecture or design governance.
• Experience managing vendors, budgets and multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred

• Exposure to AI, machine learning or analytics projects in insurance, e.g. smart claims or risk models (training will be provided, so this is not required).
• Experience in IT strategy, budget planning and stakeholder management at senior level.
• Familiarity with insurance regulation and technology risk expectations in the region.

Personal attributes

• Credible with both business executives and IT teams; a natural translator between them.
• Curious and committed to learning AI and data in depth.
• Client-facing, commercially minded and comfortable supporting presales.
• Clear written and verbal communicator.
