Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business or related field.
  • 5–8 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GST, Singapore accounting, CPF and statutory rules.
  • Experience with audits and external tax agents is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software are required.

Responsibilities

Senior Accounts Officer / Accounts & Finance Executive

Salary: SGD 6,000 - 7,500 per month

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced and hands-on Senior Accounts Officer / Accounts & Finance Executive to take ownership of the company's accounting and financial operations.

This is a senior-level position suited for someone who can work independently, exercise sound financial judgement, and provide management with accurate financial information to support business decisions.

The successful candidate will oversee the full spectrum of accounting functions, including financial reporting, cash-flow management, budgeting, GST, payroll, compliance, accounts receivable/payable, project costing and management reporting.

Experience in an SME, events, project-based, or service-oriented business will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
1. Full-Spectrum Accounting & Finance
  • Manage the company's day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
  • Handle full sets of accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure all accounting transactions are accurately and properly recorded.
  • Review and approve accounting entries, payments, invoices, expenses and supporting documents.
  • Maintain proper accounting records and ensure financial data is accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
2. Financial Reporting & Management Accounts
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and financial reports for management review.
  • Analyse revenue, expenses, profitability, margins and cash flow.
  • Prepare financial summaries and reports highlighting key financial trends and variances.
  • Provide management with financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Identify areas of unnecessary expenditure, cost leakage or financial risks.
3. Cash Flow & Financial Planning
  • Take ownership of the company's cash-flow management and forecasting.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing funds and ensure sufficient working capital.
  • Prepare short-term and long-term cash-flow projections.
  • Coordinate payment schedules with suppliers, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Advise management on cash-flow requirements and potential financial constraints.
  • Assist management in planning for major projects, events, equipment purchases and other business expenditures.
4. Budgeting & Project Cost Control
  • Prepare annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Monitor project and event profitability.
  • Track project revenue, direct costs, manpower costs, equipment costs and vendor expenses.
  • Work closely with the operations and project teams to ensure projects remain within budget.
  • Analyse project margins and highlight potential cost overruns.
  • Assist management in determining appropriate pricing, margins and financial feasibility for major projects.
5. GST, Tax & Statutory Compliance
  • Manage and ensure timely submission of GST returns and other statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretary and other professional advisers.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documents required for audits and tax submissions.
  • Ensure the company complies with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Keep management informed of relevant changes in accounting and tax requirements.
6. Payroll & Staff-Related Finance
  • Oversee monthly payroll processing and ensure salaries are processed accurately and on time.
  • Manage CPF contributions, employee claims and other payroll-related matters.
  • Review staff expenses and reimbursement claims.
  • Maintain proper payroll and employee financial records.
7. Banking & Financial Institutions
  • Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Monitor company bank accounts, credit facilities, loans and financing arrangements.
  • Prepare financial information and documentation required for banking facilities and applications.
  • Assist management with negotiations and discussions with banks where required.
  • Monitor loan repayment schedules and ensure timely payments.
8. Internal Controls & Risk Management
  • Establish and maintain appropriate financial controls and approval procedures.
  • Review financial processes to minimise errors, fraud, financial leakage and unnecessary expenditure.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and documentation.
  • Regularly review accounting processes and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and business information.
9. Management & Business Support
  • Act as a key finance partner to the management team.
  • Provide financial advice and analysis for business expansion, investments and major purchases.
  • Prepare financial information for management meetings and business planning.
  • Support management in evaluating new business opportunities and commercial proposals.
  • Work closely with management, operations, sales and project teams to ensure financial objectives are aligned with business goals.
10. Team & External Party Coordination
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax agents and other professional advisers.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior accounting or administrative staff where applicable.
  • Establish clear accounting procedures and ensure the finance function operates efficiently.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and clients regarding billing, payments and account-related matters.
Requirements
  • Diploma / Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
  • Strong experience in full sets of accounts.
  • Good knowledge of Singapore accounting, GST, CPF and statutory requirements.
  • Strong financial reporting, budgeting and cash-flow management skills.
  • Experience handling audits and working with external auditors and tax agents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, discretion and accountability.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in an SME or project-based business environment is highly advantageous.
