Responsibilities

• Prepare full sets of accounts, general ledger, journal entries, accruals and month-end closing.
• Prepare GST returns and withholding tax filings; liaise with auditors and tax agents.

Job description

Accountant

The Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting and full sets of accounts for the commodity trading and shipping entities. The role covers financial reporting, tax compliance and audit support, with opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

1. Accounting& Financial Reporting

• Handle day-to-day accounting operations for commodity trading and shipping entities, including bank transactions, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP) and reconciliations.
• Handle full sets of accounts for assigned entities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, accruals and month-end closing.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management review.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions.

2. Tax &Statutory Compliance

• Prepare GST returns and withholding tax filings.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax agents on audit and tax matters.
• Assist with statutory compliance and year-end audit requirements.

3. Other Responsibilities

• Maintain proper accounting records and documentation.
• Support improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.
• Perform other ad hoc finance and accounting duties as assigned.

Requirement

• Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in shipping, maritime or commodity trading industries is an advantage.
• Able to handle full sets of accounts with minimal supervision.
• Basic knowledge of Singapore GST, withholding tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• As this role requires to liaise with China's counterparts, strong proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese is required.
