Job summary

ROYAL INSIGNIA seeks an Industrial/Product Designer to develop technical drawings for manufactured components and end products, and to post-process CNC tool paths for multi-axis machining.

You will create prototypes with 3D printing, model 3D representations of 2D concepts, and collaborate with the design team to interpret aesthetics and designer intent while researching new manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in 3D Drafting/Precision Engineering.
• Ability to create technical drawings for manufacture.
• Familiarity with CNC machining and 3D printing technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical drawings and engineering designs for manufacture components & end products.
• Produce and post-process the tool path data into machine specific codes for CNC machining.
• Create prototypes using 3D printing technology.
• Consult with the design team to understand aesthetics and intended effects.
• Produce 3D models of 2D designs for presentation purposes.

Job description

Industrial/Product Designers are key to the success of every design team. Not only does the drafter need to have a good understanding of manufacturing processes, he / she needs to develop an eye for the aesthetics which will enable him / her to best interpret the designer’s intentions.

He / she possesses high detail-orientation and adheres to engineering calculations, regulations and specifications involved in engineering designs. He / she possesses good analytical, problem-solving and visualisation skills, and is able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop technical drawings and engineering designs for manufacture components & end products
• Produce and post-process the tool path data into machine specific codes for multi-axis computer numerical control (CNC) machining
• Create prototypes using 3D printing technology
• Consult with the design team regularly to understand the aesthetics of the design and the effect the designers are trying to achieve
• Produce 3D models of 2D designs for presentation purposes
• Conduct extensive research to identify machinery and technology that can make the manufacturing process more efficient and produce interesting effects
