Job summary

SAAB in Gothenburg, Sweden is seeking a Technical Writer for surface radar systems. You gather and analyze information to create documentation for the customer, in an XML-based environment and following the S1000D specification. The role involves frequent contact with subject matter experts and project members.

You will work independently and in a team, conveying complex information clearly in Swedish and English. A Master of Science or a Technical Communication degree is preferred.

Your role

We are looking for colleagues in the role of Technical Writer for surface radar systems. As a Technical Writer, you gather and analyze information and use it to create documentation for the customer. The radar systems are complex and a manual can comprise up to several thousand pages.

You will work independently, as well as in a group of colleagues. Your role requires frequent contact with subject matter experts and other project members.

Our manuals are written in an XML-based production environment, in Swedish or English, and follow the international specification S1000D.

Your profile

You are a fast learner and you have the ability to convey factual information clearly and concisely. You find it easy to understand complex products and advanced technology, you might have a Master of Science degree, or a degree in Technical Communication. You are passionate about making information accessible to others. You have excellent communication skills, both in speech and in writing, and you are fluent in Swedish and English.

As a person, you are curious, solution oriented and good at organizing your work. In projects, you contribute with focus and engagement, social skills and a high level of ambition.

To succeed in this role, you need:

• Experience of writing structured technical information
• An excellent ability to quickly understand complex products
• An excellent ability to cooperate in teams
• Excellent language skills

It is preferable if you also have:

• Experience of Simplified Technical English (STE)
• Knowledge about the specification S1000D
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Experience of documentation in Dita or similar.
