Qualifications

Overview

Waters is seeking an experienced Senior Applications Chemist to join our Nordic Applications Team, supporting customers and business growth through our industry-leading Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) technologies.

Location: Solna, Sweden | Travel: Approximately 30% across the Nordic Region

Based in our modern Demonstration Laboratory in Solna, Sweden, this customer-facing role combines scientific expertise, application development, customer support, and technical sales collaboration.

You will work closely with laboratories across the Nordic region, helping customers solve complex analytical challenges and make informed decisions about their next technology investment.

We are particularly interested in candidates with strong experience in PFAS analysis, Environmental Testing, and Food Safety applications, who enjoy building trusted customer relationships and delivering scientific solutions that make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging LCMS demonstrations, customer sample analyses, and technical presentations that support customer success and business growth.
  • Partner with customers to understand their analytical challenges and identify the most effective scientific solutions.
  • Provide expert application support, troubleshooting, and workflow guidance across LCMS platforms.
  • Support customer evaluations, proof-of-concept studies, and technology assessments.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Food Safety, Environmental Testing, and PFAS applications.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, R&D, and fellow Application Scientists across Europe.
  • Support the introduction and demonstration of new technologies and workflows.
  • Deliver clear, high-quality reports and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring within the Applications Team.
  • Represent Waters at customer events, workshops, seminars, and scientific conferences.
Qualifications
What Will Make You Successful

Education

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Food Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
Experience
  • Extensive hands-on LCMS method development, validation, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of chromatography, mass spectrometry, and associated software platforms (MassLynx and/or waters_connect preferred).
  • Flexibility to develop skills across different applications is needed, however we are keen to hear from candidates who have experience in any of the following areas: Metabolite Identification, Bio-analysis, ADME, Screening and structural elucidation, Materials Science, Food safety/screening (including PFAS), Environmental analysis (including PFAS)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Customer-facing experience, including demonstrations, scientific presentations, training, or technical support.
Highly Desirable
  • Significant experience in PFAS analysis.
  • Expertise in Environmental Testing, including water, soil, wastewater, and related matrices.
  • Experience in Food Safety and Contaminant Screening applications.
  • Understanding of applicable EPA, EU, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting instrument evaluations and customer decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of HRMS, MS/MS, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and large dataset interpretation.
