Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking a Senior Risk Engineer focused on technical property for the Nordics, based in Sweden. The role supports the Technical Property & Construction, Nordics underwriting team with desktop reviews, onsite evaluations, and meetings for a diversified engineered risk portfolio.

You will work with underwriters to grow and maintain a healthy book of business, reporting to the Risk Engineering Manager, Nordics.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical or mechanical field.
• 5+ years field and account engineering experience.
• Fluent in Swedish and English; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct account reviews and periodic onsite evaluations for underwriting purposes.
• Act as a technical resource for the underwriting team.
• Collaborate with the Global Engineering team on standards, guidelines, and technology.
• Participate in broker and client meetings to strengthen relationships.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk Engineer focused on technical property (power, pulp & paper and other heavy industries).

This role is responsible for supporting the Technical Property & Construction, Nordics underwriting team with desktop account reviews, onsite-evaluations, and client/broker meetings for a diverse portfolio of engineered risks. The candidate will work closely with underwriters to help grow and maintain a healthy book of business through engineered risk selection. This position reports to the Risk Engineering Manager, Nordics, working in close collaboration with the Head of Construction & Technical Property, Nordics.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct account level reviews and periodic onsite evaluations for underwriting purposes.
• Act as a technical resource for the underwriting team.
• Collaborate with the Global Engineering team on standards, guidelines, and technology.
• Participate in broker and client meetings to strengthen our relationship and deliver our value-added proposition.

Qualifications:

• Academic degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years combined field and account engineering experience required.
• Knowledgeable within the Energy sector (boilers and turbines), as well as FM Data Sheets/NFPA codes and EN standards.
• Highly motivated with good oral/presentation and written communication skills for underwriting/client interaction.
• Some travel required for attending customer/broker meetings and conducting rush prospect surveys on behalf of underwriting teams.
• Fluent in Swedish and English.
