Ascom is seeking a seasoned Head of Mechanical Design to lead a global R&D team in Göteborg. You will direct mechanical architecture, guide design reviews, and ensure compliant, high-quality products across lifecycles.

The role blends people leadership with hands-on technical input to deliver robust, manufacturable hardware for medical and industrial solutions. You will foster a collaborative environment, drive continuous improvement, and partner with Product, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply

Qualificações

• BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree.
• Solid experience in mechanical product development.
• Experience leading engineers or technical specialists.
• Strong understanding of product development across lifecycle.
• Experience in cross-functional R&D environments.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and develop a team of mechanical design engineers and specialists.
• Provide hands-on technical support in development activities when appropriate.
• Create an inclusive, collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• Set priorities aligned with R&D strategy and roadmaps.
• Manage performance, coaching, and development planning.
• Ensure capacity, tools and ways of working to fulfill responsibilities.
• Plan resources, budget, milestones, KPIs, risks and dependencies.
• Provide technical direction through the product lifecycle.
• Oversee design activities: architecture, reviews, verification, documentation.
• Promote robust, maintainable, cost-effective designs.
• Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
• Support product development from concept to end-of-life.
