Job summary

Volvo Group is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel Environmental in the Trucks Technology and Industrial Division to strengthen legal support for industrial projects and operations. You will partner with technology, purchasing, and operations and contribute to the Legal Value Chain Functions team across sites.

The role focuses on environmental law topics within projects and operations, with opportunities to engage in broader regulatory and commercial matters in a global manufacturing context.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in in-house legal roles or law firms, ideally with international exposure.
• Strong background in environmental law and willingness to broaden into construction matters.

About the Role

As Senior Legal Counsel Environmental in the Trucks Technology and Industrial Division, you will help strengthen legal support for industrial projects and ongoing operations. You will work closely with stakeholders in technology, purchasing, and operations and be part of the TTI Legal & Volvo Group IP function and the Legal Value Chain Functions team, with legal colleagues on different sites. Your primary focus will be project- and operations-related environmental legal topics, but the role will also offer the opportunity to be involved in a broader range of legal topics such as construction and project related agreements, commercial agreements and regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with leaders and business colleagues across the organization, as well as with legal and IP colleagues within the function and Volvo Group. The role offers both responsibility and freedom within your area, with the opportunity to influence decisions early and support the business through the full value chain. You will work in an environment where legal matters are closely connected to business reality, and where your advice helps enable progress, safeguard the business, and support long-term success.

Key Responsibilities in this role, you will:

• Provide proactive, business-oriented legal support to the Trucks Technology and Industrial Division in larger industrial projects and running business
• Independently provide clear, pragmatic legal advice with a focus on the environmental law area such as permitting matters and authority interactions
• Draft, review and negotiate construction, project and other agreements
• Instruct and coordinate external legal resources
• Work closely with leadership and key stakeholders and contribute with clear, pragmatic, and commercially sound legal guidance
• Take ownership of your assigned area while being an active and valued member of the team

Qualifications and Experience.

We believe you are a qualified lawyer with 8+ years of experience from an in-house legal role or a law firm, ideally with exposure to international business environments. You are curious, confident, and motivated by working closely with the business. You understand the value of legal advice that is not only correct, but also practical, clear, and supportive of the bigger picture. To success in this role, you are likely to bring:

• Solid experience in environmental law and a willingness to grow outside this field as well. Experience in construction legal matters is a merit.
• Strong interest in purchasing, technology, and operations
• Strong ability to work in larger projects
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Experience of or interest in working in a global manufacturing end-to-end environment
• The ability to build trust and collaborate effectively across functions
• A proactive and accountable mindset
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience from a law firm is welcome, especially if you are now ready to move closer to the business and take on broader responsibility.
