Job summary

MilDef, a global systems integrator of rugged IT for military and critical infrastructure, seeks a Project Purchaser to translate technical needs into purchasing actions and manage supplier relationships.

The role bridges Project Management/R&D with Procurement, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving procurement improvements while supporting development and production projects.

Qualifications

• Understanding of technical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to evaluate technical documentation and requirements.
• Experience in mechanical/electro mechanical industrial or manufacturing environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clarify technical intents and requirements with engineering teams.
• Interpret technical drawings to formulate purchasing documents.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
• Support product development and production projects with sourcing input and risk mitigation.
• Ensure regulatory requirements such as RoHs, Reach, MIL-spec are fulfilled.
• Bridge between Project Management/R&D and Procurement.
• Drive improvements in procurement practices and digital tools adoption.

Step into the role

The Project Purchaser supports projects by managing purchasing-related activities from early project phases through supplier selection, negotiation, and quotation to placing and monitoring orders. The role acts as a key interface between Project Management/R&D and Purchasing, managing multiple stakeholders, ensuring that technical requirements are translated into commercially sound purchasing decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Clarify technical intents and requirements with engineering teams.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to understand product needs and formulate these into purchasing documents.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, availability, and reliability to meet category and project needs.
• Support product development and production projects by providing sourcing input and risk mitigation measures.
• Ensuring regulatory requirements are fulfilled such as RoHs, Reach, MIL-spec.
• Act as a bridge between Project Management/R&D and Procurement.
• Drive improvements in procurement practices, including adoption of digital tools, compliance, and sustainability standards.

What you bring

• Post-secondary vocational diploma (yrkeshögskolan) in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Procurement.
• Good understanding of technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to evaluate technical documentation and requirements.
• Strong cooperation and communication skills across technical and commercial functions.
• Cost awareness (TCO – Total Cost of Ownership).
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Fluent in Swedish and proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
• Project Purchaser Project Management: 3-5 years’ experience in technical purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain within a mechanical/electro mechanical industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Project Purchaser R&D: 3-5 years’ experience in technical purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain within an electronical industrial or manufacturing environment.

It is considered a merit if you have

• Bachelor´s degree in Business or Engineering.
• Certification in negotiation, procurement, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Strong interest in technology.
