Kungliga Tekniska högskolan in Sweden is offering a postdoc position focused on Microgrids for AI data centers. The role involves the design, modeling, and management of next-generation microgrids within a unique Arctic test environment, supported by the Swedish Energy Agency.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and exhibit strong expertise in power systems, microgrids, or power electronics. Emphasis will be placed on personal skills and the commitment to equality and diversity.
The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) is driving an unprecedented demand for large-scale AI data centers, creating new challenges for power supply, energy efficiency, resilience, and grid integration. At the same time, Arctic and sub-Arctic regions are becoming attractive locations for AI data centers due to their naturally cold climates, which significantly reduce cooling requirements. These trends call for next-generation microgrids and power electronic technologies to ensure reliable and sustainable operation.
This project focuses on the design, modeling, control, and management of microgrids for AI data centers. The project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency in close collaboration with Arjeplog Municipality, providing a unique real-world Arctic test environment.
