Job Overview

KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm is engaged in fundamental research to support the transition of the energy system. This role focuses on the development of modeling, stability analysis, control strategies, and hardware solutions for converter‑dominated power systems. The applicant will work in the Division of Electric Power and Energy Systems and collaborate with leading research groups and industry partners such as the University of Padova, Aalborg University, Chalmers University of Technology, Hitachi Energy, Energiforsk, Svenska kraftnät and Volvo Energy.

Responsibilities
  • Develop advanced modelling, stability analysis and control solutions for power electronic converters.
  • Design and prototype hardware to support megawatt charging infrastructure for heavy‑duty electric vehicles and to power AI data centers.
  • Collaborate with international research partners and industrial stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project reports, publications and conference presentations.
  • Participate in project management activities and secure funding with EU Clean Energy Transition Partnership and the Swedish Energy Agency.

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Power Engineering or an equivalent foreign degree.
  • Strong background in power electronics and control of converter‑dominated systems.
  • Excellent scientific communication skills (written and oral).
  • Knowledge of diversity and equality issues with a focus on gender equality.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and to work independently.

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong publication record in top IEEE Transactions.
  • High level of self‑motivation and initiative in research.
  • Experience with research projects funded by European or national agencies.
About the Employment

Special fixed‑term employment for up to 12 months with full‑time equivalent of 100 %. Employment commences according to agreement. A security clearance may be required under the Protective Security Act (2018:585) if the role is classified as security‑sensitive.
