Job summary

Hitachi Energy Sweden AB seeks a Research Scientist to apply AI-based tooling to the design and engineering of power electronic systems. You will collaborate with dynamic teams, access advanced lab facilities, and drive innovative solutions shaping sustainable energy applications.

The role requires a PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with CS/AI exposure, strong communication, and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering with Power Electronics or closely related field including CS/AI.
• Experience applying AI/ML to PE development such as topology design, controller design, device modeling, and end-to-end automation.

Responsibilities

• Identify technical requirements and drive innovation in future sustainable energy.
• Develop and provide solutions for technical challenges in R&D projects.
• Develop software systems, analyze data, and optimize concepts to demonstrate feasibility.
• Lead R&D projects or work-packages with structured, goal-oriented leadership.
• Generate ideas and proposals for R&D within energy systems.
• Interact and communicate with team members, customers, suppliers, and university partners.

For our research center in Sweden, we are looking for a research scientist with expertise in the area of AI-based tooling for the design and engineering of Power Electronic systems. You will work in dynamic, motivated, and creative teams with a wide range of experience and competence and with access to highly advanced laboratory facilities.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Identify technical requirements and drive innovation within the area of future sustainable energy
• Develop and provide solutions for technical challenges in R&D projects
• Develop SW systems, analyze data, and improve/optimize to demonstrate feasibility of new concepts
• Lead R&D projects or work-packages with a structured working style, target-oriented strategy, and effective leadership
• Create ideas and proposals for R&D projects within the domain of energy systems
• Interact and actively communicate with team members, customers, suppliers, as well as collaborators in partner companies and universities
• Deliver results in the form of software, hardware, technical reports, patent applications, scientific papers, and presentations
• Build a network in the company and actively share your knowledge and expertise

Your Background

• You hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering specializing in Power Electronics, or have a relevant comparable educational background covering both Power Electronics and Computer Science/AI.
• You possess research and development experience in utilizing AI or machine learning tools for power electronics (PE) development. This includes, but is not limited to, topology design, controller design, device modeling, optimization of designs, diagnostics for reliability, and end-to-end design process automation.
• We consider it to be an advantage if you have previous experience of leading R&D projects
• You have a curious mindset and can easily adapt to new challenges. You have excellent communication skills and team player attitude.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
