KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm invites applications for a Postdoc in Microgrids for AI data centers. The project focuses on design, modeling, control, and management of microgrids in Arctic test environments, addressing power supply, energy efficiency, resilience and grid integration.
The successful candidate will contribute to advancing hardware and software integration, develop real-time models, and collaborate with national partners and the Swedish Energy Agency.
The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) is driving an unprecedented demand for large‑scale AI data centers, creating new challenges for power supply, energy efficiency, resilience, and grid integration. Arctic and sub‑Arctic regions are becoming attractive locations for AI data centers due to their naturally cold climates, which significantly reduce cooling requirements. This project focuses on the design, modeling, control, and management of microgrids for AI data centers in a real‑world Arctic test environment funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and Arjeplog Municipality.
