Tata Technologies in Gothenburg, Sweden, is seeking a Mechatronics Hardware Group Lead to own the end-to-end ECU hardware design, development and maintenance across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in electronics hardware development (ECU/controllers) in automotive domain.
  • Strong experience in full product development lifecycle.
  • Experience handling multiple projects and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and manage stakeholder interactions effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ECU hardware systems.
  • Create, maintain, and validate hardware part numbers in relevant systems.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, compliance, and traceability.
  • Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and ensure timely implementation.
  • Track and communicate hardware changes across stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams to implement hardware updates smoothly.
  • Maintain and manage product data (KDP) ensuring consistency across systems.
  • Execute maintenance-phase activities independently with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Support planning, scheduling, and tracking of product development milestones.
  • Manage multiple projects, including vendor coordination and resource alignment.
  • Ensure effective communication, reporting, and issue escalation.

Role Overview

Our customer operates in advanced automotive engineering environments, requiring strong ownership of electronic hardware development and coordination across global teams.

As a Mechatronics Hardware Group Lead, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of ECU hardware systems, ensuring high-quality delivery across all product lifecycle stages.

This role combines technical expertise in electronics hardware, change management, and project coordination, supporting complex automotive engineering programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ECU hardware systems.

Technical Skills & Experience
  • Strong expertise in ECU hardware development and electronics systems.
  • Experience in requirement handling, DV & PV testing, and supplier coordination.
  • Knowledge of test plan creation and test execution processes.
  • Experience in:
  • Component selection and shortage management
  • Product data and lifecycle management (PLM/PDM tools)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and constraints.
  • Experience in automotive systems (steering systems is a plus).
  • Accurate and validated hardware part numbers and documentation
  • Controlled and tracked engineering changes (ECOs)
  • Consistent and structured product data across systems
  • High-quality ECU hardware deliverables aligned with customer expectations
  • Timely execution of development and maintenance activities
Reporting & Governance
  • Provide regular status updates and progress reports
  • Participate in cross-functional and customer meetings
  • Ensure adherence to governance processes and reporting standards
  • Track project milestones and ensure on-time delivery
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies
