The Role

Support the central Manufacturing Engineering function in developing and deploying global standards, specifications, and automation solutions for equipment across plants. You will drive development projects and and drive POC and make equipment ready for implementation.

Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery

• Lead equipment and automation projects for Manufacturing engineering
• Define and implement technical solutions for automation equipment, securing that standards are created and updated.
• Execute validation and proof of concept activities ensuring robust performance
• Support troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of automation systems

3. Standards & Specifications

• Develop, maintain, and harmonize global equipment and automation standards
• Define requirements for control systems, electrical design, and interfaces
• Review and approve technical documentation and process reviews with suppliers
• Ensure compliance with Volvo standards and industrial regulations
• Define requirements for equipment connectivity, data collection, and digital manufacturing solutions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, global plants, and suppliers
• Support technical evaluations, sourcing activities, and supplier alignment
• Contribute to cross-functional networks (ME, Production, R&D)
• Owner of brandlist for equipment
• Standards and specification documents
• Technical reviews and approvals of supplier designs
• Implemented and validated automation solutions
• Documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams
