Job summary

Sweco is seeking an Interim Group Legal Counsel to support the Group Legal function in Stockholm during a parental leave period. The role focuses on corporate law and M&A, providing pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice to senior stakeholders.

You will work closely with the General Counsel and internal teams across Europe, handling complex transactions, governance matters and day-to-day legal support in an international environment. Fluency in Swedish and English is required.

Qualifications

• Swedish law degree or equivalent academic qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in corporate law and M&A.
• Strong commercial awareness and pragmatic advice.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a changing international environment.
• Proficiency in Swedish and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

This assignment is within Sweco Group Legal, which is part of the Sweco Group organisation and supports the Group and its business areas across Europe. The legal function works closely with colleagues across the organisation and with external advisors when required.

The assignment

Sweco is looking for an experienced legal counsel to support Sweco Group on an interim basis during a parental leave period within Group Legal.

As Interim Group Legal Counsel, you will provide senior legal support to the Group and work closely with the General Counsel and other stakeholders across the organisation. The assignment will primarily focus on corporate law and M&A-related matters, as well as providing pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice to support the Group’s ongoing activities.

This is an opportunity for an experienced legal professional who enjoys working in an international, dynamic environment and who can quickly step into an existing organisation and contribute from day one.

Key responsibilities

The assignment will include, among other things:

• Providing legal advice and support on corporate law and M&A matters.
• Supporting the Group in connection with corporate transactions, governance and other strategic legal matters.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements and other legal documentation.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors as required.
• Identifying legal and commercial risks and translating these into practical, actionable advice.
• Supporting the General Counsel and Group Legal with day-to-day legal matters.
• Contributing to efficient ways of working, including the use of digital tools and legal technology where relevant.

The exact scope of the assignment may evolve depending on business priorities and the needs of Group Legal.

About you

We are looking for a senior legal professional with:

• A Swedish law degree or equivalent academic legal qualification.
• At least five years of relevant experience in corporate law and M&A, gained from a law firm, in-house legal function or similar environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic, solution-oriented legal advice.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
• The ability to quickly understand new situations, work independently and manage several priorities in parallel.
• Experience working in an international and changing environment.
• An interest in using digital tools and technology to improve efficiency and ways of working.
• Full professional proficiency in both Swedish and English, written and spoken.
