Job summary

Tata Technologies in Gothenburg invites a Diagnostics Tester to join our engineering team. You will map fault scenarios, develop diagnostic sequences, and verify workshop-ready methods end-to-end.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 5+ years in automotive diagnostics, strong technical writing skills, and hands-on experience with VIDA, CarCom and related tools. Fluent English is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Automotive-sector and/or technical documentation experience.
• Practical experience in fault tracing and diagnostics.
• Experience in technical writing.
• English language fluency; knowledge of diagnostic standards is a plus.
• Experience with digital in-vehicle systems.
• Knowledge of function block scripting and high-level languages.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Map TRIP chapters to relevant aftermarket functions.
• Develop FMEA content for VIDA and aftermarket functions.
• Create and maintain signal information for each signal ID.
• Prepare DTC information for each ECU and DTC in CarCom.
• Develop diagnostic sequences, service-function scripts, and pre-delivery service scripts.
• Coordinate with Polestar for test-object availability and verification activities.
• Perform end-to-end verification of diagnostic methods for workshop use.

Key Responsibilities

• Map TRIP chapters to relevant aftermarket customer functions.
• Develop FMEA content tailored for VIDA and aftermarket customer functions.
• Create and maintain signal information for each signal ID.
• Prepare DTC information for each ECU and DTC in CarCom.
• Develop component tests for each GCID and manage GCID variants.
• Create parameter and activation descriptions for each ECU.
• Develop diagnostic sequences, service-function scripts, and pre-delivery service scripts.
• Prepare component specifications for selected components and Periodic Technical Inspection documentation.
• Define Customer Symptom Codes and aftermarket customer-function content.
• Analyze engineering inputs such as ECU SSDS, wiring diagrams, topology, configuration data, function lists, calibration data, component information, and technical specifications.
• Plan assigned features in detail, define objectives and deliverables, manage dependencies and backlog items, and support weekly synchronization and refinement meetings.
• Coordinate with Polestar for test-object availability and verification activities.
• Escalate missing, fragmented, or ambiguous technical inputs in a timely manner.
• Perform end‑to‑end verification of diagnostic methods for workshop use.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Automotive-sector and/or technical‑documentation experience.
• Practical experience in fault tracing and diagnostics.
• Experience in technical writing.
• Basic knowledge of automotive diagnostic standards, with deeper expertise preferred for selected team members.
• Experience with digital systems and computers in an in‑vehicle environment.
• Basic understanding of product‑configuration methodology.
• Knowledge of function block‑based scripting and high‑level programming languages.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Strong collaboration and team‑working skills.

Tools and Technical Knowledge

Previous hands‑on experience with aftermarket diagnostic development tools is required. Relevant tools include:
