Job summary

Tata Technologies in Gothenburg, Sweden, is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join the Vehicle Modes SW team. You will help develop and validate software that manages vehicle modes and energy optimization throughout the life cycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer / Electrical / IT Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.
• Proven experience in software testing in automotive.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with vehicle systems and ECUs.
• Ability to read and interpret logs, traces, and diagnostic data.
• Hands-on experience in test design and execution.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the correctness and quality of central application software in the vehicles.
• Testing is done in multiple environments – cars, boxcars, VIL and HIL rigs.
• Contribute to the implementation and execution of an automated workflow with CI and testing of new software.
• Work in close collaboration with HW, SW and System engineering – expanding your knowledge within many fields.

The role

At Central Application & Platform Services (CAPS), we are looking for a Software Engineering Analyst to join our Vehicle Modes SW team. The team develops application software that manage vehicle modes in the car, controlling electrical energy optimization and function availability – through daily drive cycles and the whole life cycle. The team is responsible for the whole development chain – requirement management, system design, software development, software testing in rigs and cars, and safety/security documentation.

Responsibilities

• You Will ensure the correctness and quality of central application software in the vehicles.
• Testing is done mainly on domain and complete level, in multiple testing environments – cars, boxcars, VIL and HIL rigs.
• Contribute to the implementation and execution of an automated workflow with continuous integration and testing of new software.
• Work in close collaboration with a broad spectrum of competences within HW, SW and System engineering – expanding your knowledge within many different fields.

Experience and background

• Degree in Computer / Electrical / IT Engineering, Mechatronics or similar area of education.
• Proven experience in software testing in automotive
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with vehicle systems and ECUs
• Ability to read and interpret logs, traces, and diagnostic data
• Hands‑on experience in test design and execution
• Experience with tools such as CANalyzer, INCA, ParallelDiag, DSA, and DLT
• Familiarity with debugging tools and test frameworks
• Knowledge of CI and automation (with tools Git, Zuul, CMake, Bazel), automotive communication and ISO 26262
• Programming (preferably CAPL and Python)
