Verto People Ltd. is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager for a major data centre project in Sweden. You will lead the commercial function, driving revenue, profitability and governance across a complex engineering environment.

You will work with senior teams to protect contractual positions, manage risk, and support delivery from pre-construction through to completion, while developing the commercial function and mentoring the team on-site in Sweden.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in a related discipline.
• Extensive experience as a Commercial Manager or in similar senior commercial roles.
• Background in construction, engineering, MEP or data centre project environments.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, governance and risk management.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale, complex projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial activity across the project lifecycle from tender evaluation to final accounts.
• Manage project revenue, profitability, cash flow forecasting and monthly reporting.
• Review and negotiate client contracts; control commercial risks and liabilities.
• Lead commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and financial risks; oversee profit plans and forecasts.
• Support project teams with commercial guidance and contractual interpretation.
• Develop and mentor Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff across the project.
• Ensure subcontract agreements and purchase orders are implemented; drive resolution of commercial issues.

Job description

A Commercial Manager is required for a major data centre project in Sweden, leading the commercial function across a complex engineering and construction environment.

This role suits an experienced Commercial Manager who can take ownership of project revenue, profitability, commercial governance, contract risk and final account strategy.

You’ll work closely with senior commercial, operational, project and engineering teams to protect the project’s contractual position while supporting successful delivery from pre-construction through to completion.

The Commercial Manager Role:

• Lead commercial activity throughout the project lifecycle, from tender evaluation through to final account settlement
• Manage project revenue, profitability, cash flow forecasting and monthly commercial reporting
• Review, negotiate and manage client contracts, ensuring commercial risks and liabilities are understood and controlled
• Lead commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and key project stakeholders
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial, contractual and financial risks
• Oversee profit plans, forecasts and project financial performance
• Support project teams with commercial guidance and contractual interpretation
• Manage and develop Quantity Surveyors and commercial team members across the project
• Ensure subcontract agreements, purchase orders, letters of intent and commercial documentation are correctly implemented
• Drive the resolution of commercial issues, claims and final account negotiations
• Work closely with engineering, planning, finance and operations teams to strengthen commercial awareness across the project
• Lead lessons learned activity and support continuous improvement across commercial processes
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Extensive experience as a Commercial Manager, Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Lead or similar senior commercial role
• Background within construction, engineering, MEP or data centre project environments
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, commercial governance and risk management
• Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects from pre-construction through to completion
• Excellent commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing project profitability and cash flow
• Experience leading and developing commercial teams
• Strong communication, leadership and decision-making abilities
• Willingness to work on-site in Sweden
• Experience within data centres, mission-critical facilities or major engineering projects would be highly desirable
