Job summary

Frey Recruitment is seeking a Chief Officer for a 53m sailing yacht. The role is practical on-deck rather than paperwork-heavy, with the Captain handling most administration on a vessel under 500GT.

You will lead a deck team of three, be physically capable, and actively contribute to on-deck operations during a stable, owner-used program with occasional charters.

Job description

A 53m SY is seeking a Chief Officer to join their dual season, private/charter program.

The yacht is predominantly owner-used, with occasional charter, and has a particularly stable senior team. The Captain has been aboard over 15 years, while other crew members have also remained with the programme for many years. Following an extensive refit and repaint they are crewing up and preparing for the winter season.

This is a practical deck role rather than a paperwork-heavy Chief Officer position. As the yacht is under 500GT, the Captain manages much of the administration. The Chief Officer will lead a deck team of three and must be physically capable, confident with large sailing-yacht operations and willing to remain actively involved on deck.
