Job summary

Frey Recruitment is seeking a Captain and Cook/Stew couple for a 24m commercial sailing yacht. The roles are permanent with a start window from mid-October to early November, as the yacht moves between the Caribbean and Mediterranean.

The Captain must hold a Yachtmaster endorsement, GMDSS, STCW, ENG1, Powerboat Level 2 and Seafarer’s Discharge Book. The Cook/Stew should have dual-role experience, cooking and interior maintenance, plus ENG1 and Food Hygiene certificates.

Qualifications

• Must hold commercially endorsed Yachtmaster and STCW endorsements.
• Proven command experience on a commercial vessel.
• Cook/Stew must have cooking, provisioning and menu planning experience.
• Fluent English and good health; non-smoker preferred.

Responsibilities

• Captain to command the vessel, navigation, safety and compliance.
• Cook/Stew to manage galley, menus, provisioning and interior care.
• Operate as a two-person couple where possible; work as part of a small crew.
• Maintain high professional standards and strong references.

Job description

A 24m commercial sailing yacht is seeking a Captain and Cook/Stew couple to join on a permanent basis from mid-October or early November.

The Malta-flagged yacht is currently in a reputable shipyard in Portland, Maine, undergoing significant works including an engine replacement and general maintenance. She is due to launch in October before departing for the Caribbean in mid-November, with plans to attend the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in December. The ongoing programme will operate between the Caribbean and Mediterranean.

The Captain must be a confident and resourceful sailor with previous command experience and the qualifications required to operate a commercial vessel. The Cook/Stew should have previous experience in a similar dual role and be confident with cooking, provisioning, menu planning and maintaining the interior.

The yacht operates with three crew. A couple is strongly preferred, although suitable individual candidates may also be considered.

Captain requirements:
