Job summary

Sympower is seeking a Head of Energy Markets and Trading to lead our revenue optimization and trading strategy within an international team helping accelerate the energy transition. You will own trading revenue, manage risk-adjusted returns across the portfolio, and develop new revenue streams by expanding into markets and products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in energy trading or the trading and operations department of an energy company.
• Deep understanding of energy markets, trading operations, BRP requirements, and ETRM systems.
• Strong decision-making and analytical skills, with trading optimization knowledge.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in scaling up and working with remote, multi-country teams.
• Quantitative mindset, understanding of algorithmic trading, optimization models, and data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead Sympower's Revenue Optimization & Trading Strategy: Own trading revenue and risk-adjusted returns across the portfolio; build business cases for expansion into new revenue streams.
• Commercial leadership: work with commercial/origination teams to set expansion strategies and define risk mandates for trading deals.
• Trading Operations Management: oversee day-ahead, intraday trades, settlements, reconciliation, nominations, and ensure revenue maximization.
• Mentor traders and quants; scale up trading desk; ensure trading support systems are in place; collaborate with quants on profitable strategies.
• Grow trading operations across multiple jurisdictions and products; manage 3rd party contracts and access for trading desks.
