Job summary

Telia Company is seeking a Backend Engineer to join the ACE Product Engineering - Backend & Voice team in Malmö, Sweden. You will develop secure, scalable backend services at the core of Telia ACE within a cross-functional Scrum team.

You will work with Erlang and Rust, own core services, and influence architecture and product development. A focus on DevSecOps, containerization, and observability will support reliable software delivery.

We're looking for a Backend Engineer to join us at Telia.

I'm Jonas Wulff, Head of ACE Product Engineering - Backend & Voice, and I'm searching for someone ready to grow with us. We're a collaborative engineering team building secure, scalable backend services for Telia ACE, our market-leading Contact Center as a Service platform.

Telia ACE helps businesses and public-sector organizations deliver reliable customer service across channels and devices. Our solutions support everything from online self-service and omnichannel communication to business-critical services used across finance, insurance, healthcare, and the public sector.

What you'll do:

You'll develop and take ownership of backend services at the core of Telia ACE, working in a cross-functional Scrum team.

• Develop and maintain high-impact services for multi-tenant and single-tenant systems using Erlang and Rust.
• Own and evolve core backend services, influencing technical direction, architecture, and product development.
• Apply pragmatic AI agentic development practices to improve engineering workflows, accelerate development, and support high-quality software delivery.
• Build and integrate solutions using technologies such as Riak, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Valkey, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
• Improve automation, observability, and deployment using GitHub Actions, Grafana, Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux.

You're curious, proactive, and motivated by building secure and reliable distributed systems. You take ownership of your work, value high-quality engineering, and enjoy collaborating while challenging existing solutions when you see opportunities to improve them.

• Proven experience in backend software development and working with complex or distributed systems.
• Strong interest in secure and reliable software engineering, with the willingness to become proficient in Erlang and Rust.
• Ability to take ownership, collaborate in an agile cross-functional team, and contribute to technical and process improvements.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices; experience with containerization, CI/CD, observability, microservices, or Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Interest in pragmatic use of AI and agentic development tools to improve engineering productivity while maintaining quality, security, and sound engineering judgment.
