NEOM Green Hydrogen Company Limited (NGHC)

NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is on a mission to make a carbon-free, climate-safe future a reality. We are building the world’s largest plant to produce green ammonia at scale, providing humankind with a cost-efficient solution that will accelerate the worldwide green hydrogen economy. Located in NEOM and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, NGHC will be integrating up to 4GW of onshore solar and wind energy to supply up to 650 tons of green ammonia per day for transportation globally. Operations will go onstream in 2026. NGHC brings together the technology, operational efficiency and know-how of ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM in a joint-venture partnership with over 80 years of combined experience in the fields of hydrogen, energy, renewables and global networks.

JOB DETAILS

Division: NGHC Operations.

REPORTS TO: Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor.

LIAISE/COOPERATE WITH: Plant operation staff, maintenance Technicians, Technical Support Teams and contractors.

POSITION SUMMARY

Mechanical Technician role is a key member of the O&M team for NGHC. Responsible for the day-to-day mechanical maintenance of the hydrogen production plant, which includes predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities, including spares management. The incumbent shall perform maintenance activities in accordance with company safety policies and site-specific procedures and maintenance plans. Based in Neom, the position reports to HIDC Superintendent.

NATURE & SCOPE

The main functions of this position are:

  • SAFETY IS FIRST, nothing is more important than safety, be fully aligned with all EH&S standards to achieve the goal of zero (0) lost time injuries at GHE.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of routine mechanical maintenance as designated by the SAP maintenance program and non-routine maintenance when required.
  • Provide the hands-on mechanical services as part of the GHE plant operations and maintenance team, performing a variety of mechanical related activities on continuous production, with machinery such as reciprocating compressors, centrifugal pumps, pressure relief valves, and pressure systems.
  • Work with Plant Superintendent to ensure compliance to site statutory, mechanical integrity & preventative maintenance programs.
  • Work with NGHC technical staff and plant management to solve plant and equipment problems as they arise in the safest & most effective way.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall plant on stream capability.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands on support as required during shutdowns.
  • Candidates will be required to meet training requirements and successfully pass scheduled validation reviews.
  • Actively participate in NGHC safety programs, promote, and enforce safety rules and good housekeeping methods.
  • Build and maintain a good relationship with all customers and stakeholders to ensure close cooperation.
  • Will be responsible of overall housekeeping in the plant.
  • Will be on call during certain periods of time.
  • Assist in updating/creating maintenance procedures as required.
  • KPIs follow up to ensure maintenance performance.
  • Strong commitment to team building, integrity, and diversity.
  • Provide training to new maintenance technicians as required.
  • Contribute to maintaining site management systems, e.g. MOC, BPs, SWIMs, JSAs
  • Have a positive attitude.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The position is responsible for the safe and reliable maintenance of the GHE production facility following NGHC standards.
  • Will develop and update maintenance procedures.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
  • Will act as a new maintenance technicians’ trainer and will supervise contractor.
SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS
  • Mechanical degree or equivalent with maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience with reciprocating and rotating machine maintenance.
  • Required experience performing maintenance or repairs to reciprocating compressors.
  • Required experience performing maintenance or repairs to centrifugal pumps.
  • Proficient in laser alignments techniques (Hot and cold alignments).
  • Expertise in replacement of mechanical seals on site.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring equipment, materials of machinery, lifting and rigging, schematics and layout drawings and understand maintenance manuals.
  • Completion of recognized mechanical apprenticeship or validated skills in this field
  • Knowledge of industry safety regulations and operating practices
  • Good interpersonal & team working skills.
  • Self-motivated
  • A full driving license.
  • Must be willing to be on call.
  • Ability to set priorities.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Proactive, honest, teamwork and hard working
  • Be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Hydrogen production experience is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • High school diploma in a technical discipline and a minimum of 5 – 10 years of related plant mechanical maintenance experience in the industrial gas, chemical, refining and or related industry.
