Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Traffic Engineer - Synchro Specialist in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to develop, calibrate, and apply Synchro and SimTraffic models for intersection and corridor improvements. You will transform field data, geometry, and signal information into reliable operational models used to assess deficiencies and compare improvements before field implementation.

Working with cross-functional teams, you will evaluate signal timing, phasing, coordination, lane use, and minor geometric changes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of traffic engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience using Synchro and SimTraffic for intersection and corridor analysis.
• Ability to build, calibrate, validate, and apply Synchro models using field data and timing information.
• Strong understanding of signalized intersection operations.
• Knowledge of signal phasing, timing, coordination, and capacity analysis.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop Synchro models for signalized intersections and coordinated corridors.
• Calibrate and validate models using field data and observed timings.
• Code lane configurations, turning movements, saturation flows, and storage lengths.
• Model pedestrian phases, timing sequences, and offsets.
• Calibrate models with queues, travel times, and cycle observations.
• Maintain organized model files, input data, and calibration notes.
• Coordinate with traffic signal operations engineers and field teams.
• Revise models based on QA comments and field validation.
