Job summary

Extendicare Mapleview Home in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario is seeking a Resident Program Aide to plan and run activation programs that meet assessed needs and support residents and staff.

The role involves setting up activities, transporting residents, monitoring behavior, and reporting changes to supervisors and nursing staff. Candidates must have a post-secondary diploma in recreation or related fields and strong communication skills, with experience in geriatric program planning.

Qualifications

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, gerontology registered ECE, or Social Service Worker.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience in one-on-one/group program planning and evaluation for residents, including those who are cognitively impaired.
  • Knowledge and experience in care planning and resident assessments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate new ideas, resident programs and volunteer initiatives.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in working with the geriatric population especially those with cognitive.

This position is for our Extendicare Mapleview Home, located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Plan, implement and evaluate both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs and as assigned by the Supervisor.

What You Bring
