Job Purpose / Objective
To Lead the QC team, coordinates inspections, and drives continuous improvement in quality processes to support successful project delivery. Overseeing all quality control operations across assigned projects, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and client requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and supervise the Project QC team, including inspectors and engineers, across multiple disciplines.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific quality plans and inspection test plans (ITPs).
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, and client representatives to ensure quality expectations are met.
- Oversee inspection activities for welding, NDT, painting, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
- Review and approve quality documentation, including inspection reports, material certificates, and test records.
- Ensure timely closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs) and punch list items.
- Mentor junior QC staff and support training initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO).
- Develop and maintain inspection schedules to ensure timely execution of quality activities across all project phases.
- Liaise with procurement and subcontracting teams to ensure quality requirements are embedded in vendor and subcontractor deliverables.
- Evaluate and approve subcontractor and supplier quality plans, ensuring alignment with project standards.
- Lead quality-related risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment.
- Participate in constructability reviews and provide input on quality-related aspects during planning and design phases.
- Represent the QC function in project progress meetings, client reviews, and regulatory inspections.
- Promote a proactive quality culture by leading toolbox talks, workshops, and awareness sessions.
- Track and report quality performance trends, initiating improvement initiatives where necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
- Senior Welding Inspection Cert. (CSWIP 3.2/AWS-SCWI or equivalent)
- ASNT/PCN NDT Certification at least to level II grade or equivalent in basic fabrication relevant methods (UT, RT, PT, MT).
- ISO 9001:2015 Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification.
- Certification in any painting inspection scheme and other quality related field will be considered an added advantage.
Experience
At least 10+ years’ experience in Oil & Gas Construction Industry quality functions, of which 5 must have been in a supervisory position.
