Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of building projects across Saudi Arabia. You will work in the Buildings team under the Principal Structural Engineer and contribute to safe, buildable, cost‑effective structural solutions across concept to detailed design stages.

You will perform structural analysis, prepare technical deliverables, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with the Saudi Building Code and international

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Proven post‑graduate experience in structural design.
• Experience in analysis and design of building structures in reinforced concrete and structural steel.
• Knowledge of Saudi Building Code and relevant international standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC).
• Competence in ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RAM or Tekla Structural Designer or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Undertake structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and foundation systems.
• Prepare structural calculations, analysis models, technical notes, reports, specifications and other design deliverables.
• Support development of structural schemes from concept through detailed design stages.
• Coordinate structural design information with architectural, civil, geotechnical, MEP, façade, BIM and other disciplines.
• Collaborate with BIM teams to develop coordinated drawings and models.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions and technical queries.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings and constructability discussions.

About the role

We are looking for a Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of building projects across Saudi Arabia, including mixed‑use, commercial, residential, hospitality, aviation, sports and high‑rise developments. Working as part of our Buildings team and reporting to the Principal Structural Engineer / Structural Lead, you will contribute to the development of safe, coordinated, buildable and cost-effective structural solutions across concept, schematic and detailed design stages.

In this role, you will undertake structural analysis and design activities, prepare technical deliverables, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions in accordance with the Saudi Building Code and applicable international standards

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

• Undertake structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and foundation systems.
• Prepare structural calculations, analysis models, technical notes, reports, specifications and other design deliverables.
• Support the development of structural schemes from concept through detailed design stages.
• Apply Saudi Building Code requirements and relevant international standards, including ACI, AISC, ASCE and IBC.
• Evaluate structural actions including gravity, wind, seismic, temperature and settlement effects.
• Coordinate structural design information with architectural, civil, geotechnical, MEP, façade, BIM and specialist disciplines.
• Collaborate with BIM teams and technicians to develop coordinated structural drawings and models.
• Assist with the review of shop drawings, material submissions, contractor proposals and technical queries.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, technical workshops and constructability discussions.
• Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, sharing knowledge and lessons learned.
• Demonstrate safe, ethical and inclusive behaviours aligned to Mott MacDonald values.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Proven years of relevant post‑graduate experience in structural design.
• Experience in the analysis and design of building structures in reinforced concrete and structural steel.
• Experience supporting projects through concept, schematic and detailed‑design stages.
• Working knowledge of the Saudi Building Code and relevant international standards, including ACI, AISC, ASCE and IBC.
• Competence in structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot Structural Analysis, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RAM, Tekla Structural Designer or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of Revit, BIM coordination processes and digital collaboration platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage assigned tasks and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region.
• Experience within an international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
• Exposure to construction‑stage technical support and site inspections.
• Experience working on medium‑or large‑scale commercial, residential, hospitality, aviation, sports or mixed‑use developments.
