Job summary

Fakeeh Care Group in Saudi Arabia seeks an ultrasound technician to perform abdomen, pelvic, obstetric and breast ultrasonography and to assist radiologists in interventional procedures.

You will submit images to radiologists, operate ultrasound machines, ensure correct patient identification, and explain the procedure to patients. The role requires English proficiency; Arabic is a plus, and licensure per SCFHS/DHA is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years post‑diploma ultrasonography experience.
• Education in radiographic/technological field with ultrasonography training or Bachelor degree with ultrasonography training.
• Excellent command of English; knowledge of Arabic preferable.
• License to practice per regional health regulatory authority (e.g., SCFHS/DHA).

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound examinations of abdomen, pelvis, obstetric and breast.
• Submits images to the radiologist for discussion and reporting.
• Assists radiologist during interventional ultrasound procedures.
• Ensures correct patient identification and proper examination site.
• Explains procedures to patients and positions them appropriately.
• Selects transducers and adjusts equipment according to the organ under examination.
• Documents patient data into ultrasound system and transfers images to PACS.
• Maintains neat, sterile ultrasound rooms and adheres to safety protocols.
• Educates patients and families about health conditions and preventive measures; handles emergencies as needed.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

• Performs ultrasound examinations including ultrasonography of the abdomen, pelvis, obstetric and breast.
• Submits the images to the radiologist for discussion and reporting.
• Calls the radiologist for consultation during the examination in difficult cases.
• Responsible for correct identification of patients and site of examination.
• Explains the procedure and instructs the patient in assuming physical position for examination.
• Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to the organ to be examined.
• Keys patient information into ultrasound equipment to maintain record of images.
• Records the images on the machine and transfer it to PACS.
• Responsible for recording the details of the patient to the logbook.
• Keeps ultrasound rooms in a neat and orderly appearance at all times.
• Assists radiologist in performing special procedures such as biopsy or drainage.
• Maintains knowledge in all sterile techniques and nursing procedures necessary in the area of ultrasound.
• Responsible for knowing all the hospital rules and necessary procedures and handling an emergency situation.
• Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatments and preventative measures if applicable.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities

Must be able to clearly communicate with patients and their families, physicians and non‑medical staff.

Experience

Must be in continuous good ultrasonography practice and should hold at least 2 years post‑diploma experience

Education

Appropriate radiographic / technological diploma / Bachelor degree with special training in ultrasonography

Language

Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic is preferable

Licenses / Certifications

License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS / DHA)
