Job summary

Alqotr is seeking a Soil & Geotechnical Laboratory Manager to lead the setup, operation, and continuous improvement of our soil and geotechnical testing facility in Riyadh. You will ensure testing accuracy, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and quality requirements.

You will manage the lab team, develop SOPs and QC processes, calibrate equipment, coordinate with project and engineering teams, and expand services to meet project demands while upholding health,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or geotechnical field.
• 7+ years in soil and geotechnical testing laboratories.
• Experience managing or operating soil and geotechnical labs.
• Knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO standards.
• Understanding ISO/IEC 17025 quality management systems.
• Experience developing SOPs, QC procedures, and calibration programs.
• Strong leadership, planning, and teamwork skills.
• Strong reporting and test-result analysis abilities.
• Excellent communication and coordination with project teams.

Job description

The Soil & Geotechnical Laboratory Manager is responsible for managing and operating the company’s soil and geotechnical laboratory, overseeing laboratory setup and development, and ensuring the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of testing activities and results in compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the setup and operation of the soil and geotechnical laboratory and identify requirements for laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials.
• Manage and organize laboratory testing activities and ensure the accuracy and reliability of test result in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
• Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control processes within the laboratory.
• Oversee the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and ensure its operational readiness and performance.
• Manage the laboratory team, allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and support the development of employees’ technical skills and competencies.
• Develop and implement quality management systems to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, including ISO/IEC 17025.
• Prepare and review technical reports and laboratory test results, ensuring their accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Coordinate with project, engineering, and geotechnical teams to ensure laboratory testing requirements are properly addressed.
• Develop and expand laboratory services in line with the company’s needs, project requirements, and market demands.
• Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements within the laboratory.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in soil and geotechnical testing laboratories.
• Proven experience in managing or operating soil and geotechnical laboratories.
• Good knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO standards and specifications.
• Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and laboratory quality management systems.
• Experience in developing and implementing SOPs, quality control procedures, and laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance programs.
• Strong management, planning, organizational, and team leadership skills.
• Good technical reporting and test-result analysis skills.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with project, engineering, and technical teams.
