Simulator Maintenance Instructor - C-130 Aircrew Training Device (ATD)

Boeing Saudi Arabia is seeking a Simulator Maintenance Instructor for the C-130 Aircrew Training Device (ATD) to plan and deliver high‑quality technical instruction and practical, mission‑oriented maintenance training to Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) simulator technicians. This position will be based in King Abdullah Air Base, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The instructor will develop and conduct structured and scenario‑based maintenance training, assess technician proficiency, maintain training documentation, and coordinate closely with simulator operations and engineering teams to ensure device readiness and technical realism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, deliver, and validate formal and informal maintenance instruction for C-130 ATD technicians covering mechanical, electrical, avionics, hydraulics, environmental control, motion, visual, and crew station subsystems.

  • Design and maintain hands‑on exercises, troubleshooting scenarios, practical assessments, lesson plans, and maintenance training syllabi aligned with RSAF requirements and Boeing technical guidance.

  • Provide structured on‑the‑job training (OJT), mentoring, and qualification progression for simulator technicians, train instructors and lead technicians in best practices for simulator sustainment.

  • Teach and assess preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance tasks, fault isolation procedures, repair techniques, component replacement, and calibration processes for ATD subsystems.

  • Instruct technicians in use of maintenance tools, test equipment, diagnostic software, instructor/operator consoles, data capture/replay tools, and vendor support utilities.

  • Establish objective performance metrics, conduct regular skills assessments and practical evaluations, and maintain accurate training and qualification records; recommend remedial or advanced training as required.

  • Work closely with the ATD Operations Instructor team to develop realistic maintenance training scenarios that support operational fidelity and training availability.

  • Coordinating with Boeing and RSAF technical leads to report anomalies, propose configuration or maintenance changes that affect training, and incorporate engineering changes into training content.

  • Ensure maintenance activities and training events comply with safety, security, and site access protocols, train technicians in emergency procedures and safe work practices in the simulator environment.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes, spares management, and training materials; contribute technical subject‑matter expertise to updates of technical manuals and training aids.

  • Prepare and present training status reports, technician qualification summaries, and special event briefs to RSAF leadership and Boeing management.

This is an open term contract and subject to contract award.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in aircraft or simulator maintenance, with at least 3 years’ experience supporting full‑mission simulators, ATDs, or avionics/flight deck systems.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical instruction, OJT, or formal classroom training to maintenance personnel; experience developing lesson plans and practical exercises.

  • Strong technical knowledge of simulator subsystems including electrical power, avionics, motion systems, visual systems, hydraulics, environmental control, and networked simulator architectures.

  • Hands‑on troubleshooting and fault isolation experience with real‑time diagnostic tools, test equipment, and software‑based maintenance utilities.

  • Prior experience working with simulator maintenance procedures, technical data, and configuration management.

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; ability to brief and debrief effectively at all organizational levels.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and logistics teams to maximize simulator availability and fidelity.

  • Eligible for local site access and clearances as required by RSAF.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Military maintenance background or qualifications (aircraft technician, avionics, EWO, or equivalent).

  • Instructor qualifications or certifications (military instructor, civilian instructional credentials).

  • Prior experience specifically on C‑130 ATDs, full‑mission simulators for transport/airlift platforms.

  • Familiarity with data capture/replay tools, maintenance data recorders, and performance analysis techniques.

  • Experience working with RSAF; Arabic language skills beneficial.

  • Experience with spare parts management, local procurement processes, and vendor liaison.

This requisition is for an international, locally hired position in Saudi Arabia. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S.-based payroll and will commensurate with experience and qualifications and in accordance with applicable Saudi Arabia law.
