Job summary

AVAR in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea data centre is seeking a Shift Technician - Electrical to support 24/7 critical power systems, BMS data extraction, CCTV and fire alarm interfaces, and uphold safety and compliance.

You will work across rotating shifts, monitor HV/LV electrical loads, rectifiers, UPS, and HVAC via BMS, log readings, and collaborate with engineers to promptly resolve anomalies while maintaining high reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a data centre electrical technician role.
• Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
• Willingness to work across rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays.
• Proficient with BMS, CCTV and fire alarm systems.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC loads and rectifier systems.
• Experience monitoring HVAC parameters via BMS.
• Commitment to HSE requirements and safe practices.
• Good analytical, problem-solving and reporting abilities.
• Clear written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Monitor electrical systems in the data centre and ensure seamless operation of power and control systems.
• Operate and verify BMS, CCTV, and fire alarm interfaces and report key findings to the engineering team.
• Manage and monitor AC/DC loads and rectifier systems for safety and efficiency.
• Inspect rectifiers, UPS, LV panels, switchgear and busway systems regularly.
• Record HVAC parameters via the BMS to maintain optimum data centre conditions.
• Perform daily system checks and escalate anomalies promptly to engineers.

Role Overview

As a Shift Technician - Electrical, you will join our dynamic team in Red Sea - Saudi Arabia, where you'll work in an ONSITE environment supporting all operational and technical needs of our state-of-the-art data centre. This role is integral for maintaining uninterrupted electrical services across all shifts, with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance in a professional and supportive culture.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain all electrical systems and infrastructure in the data centre, ensuring seamless operation of power and control systems.
• Read and extract reports from building management systems (BMS), CCTV control, and fire alarm panels, and communicate key information to the engineering team.
• Deal confidently with alternating and direct current loads, ensuring compatibility, safety, and operational stability.
• Operate and check rectifiers, UPS, LV panels, switchgear, busway systems, BMS, DCIM, controllers, and related electrical equipment on a regular basis.
• Monitor and record temperature and humidity levels from HVAC systems periodically and through the BMS to ensure optimal environment for data centre equipment.
• Carry out daily system checks, log readings, and promptly elevate anomalies to relevant engineers and supervisors.
• Comply strictly with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and promote safe workplace practices in all activities.
• Work flexibly across shifts to provide 24/7 support according to rotating shift schedules.

Requirements For The Role

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience working in a data centre in an electrical technician capacity.
• Technical diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
• Willingness and ability to work across changing shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficient in operating and extracting data from BMS, CCTV, and fire alarm systems.
• Strong understanding of different electrical loads (AC and DC) and rectifier systems.
• Experience in monitoring and recording HVAC parameters, as well as using BMS for facility monitoring.
• Strong adherence to HSE requirements, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workspace.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Effective team player with clear written and verbal communication abilities in English.
