Maaden Gold and Base Metals (MGBM) seeks a Senior Specialist, Lab Technician to lead laboratory testing, data analysis, and technique development supporting process improvements and innovation initiatives. You will work with metallurgical teams to ensure accurate testing, reporting, and documentation within safe operations.

The role emphasizes calibration, maintenance of lab instruments, and delivering timely insights for process optimization in a high‑impact mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Technical certifications in laboratory operations are an advantage.
• 8-10 years of experience in data governance, master data management, or data management roles.
• Proven experience implementing enterprise data governance and MDM frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory testing, experiments, and sample analysis following defined procedures.
• Prepare samples with proper labeling, storage, and handling.
• Record, validate, and analyze test results for accuracy.
• Support metallurgical and mineral processing teams with lab-based insights.
• Assist in R&D and pilot testing programs for new processes and materials.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment, calibrate instruments, and ensure safety.
• Analyze results and prepare reports for technical stakeholders; identify trends and improvements.

Job purpose

The Senior Specialist, Lab Technicianwill drive high-impact outcomes within Mining & Minerals Processing by executing specialized laboratory and technical activities that support innovation initiatives, process improvements, and operational performance. This role contributes to Maaden's Technology & Innovation strategy by enabling accurate testing, analysis, and technical insights to support process development and optimization.

Key Accountabilities

Laboratory Testing & Analysis

• Conduct laboratory testing, experiments, and sample analysis in accordance with defined procedures and standards.
• Prepare samples and ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage.
• Record, validate, and analyze test results to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Process Support & Technical Execution

• Support metallurgical, mineral processing, and technical teams through laboratory-based insights and data.
• Assist in execution of R&D and pilot testing programs for new processes and materials.
• Contribute to process optimization by providing accurate and timely test results.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Operate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper usage and adherence to safety practices.
• Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
• Ensure all equipment is functional, safe, and compliant with operational requirements.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Analyze laboratory results and prepare reports for technical and operational stakeholders.
• Identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities based on test data.
• Maintain proper documentation of test results, methodologies, and findings.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, environmental policies, and operational procedures.
• Follow quality control protocols and ensure testing accuracy and consistency.
• Support audits and ensure adherence to regulatory and governance requirements.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, testing methodologies, and efficiency.
• Support implementation of best practices and new technologies in laboratory operations.
• Contribute to innovation and process improvement initiatives within the function.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Collaborate with metallurgists, engineers, and technical teams to support integrated delivery.

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:
