Job summary

National Medical Care is seeking a Senior Registrar to provide high-level patient care in the Riyadh Care Hospital Emergency Department. The role operates under supervision of the Consultant/Head of ER and aligns with applicable medical ethics, hospital by-laws, and MOH regulations.

The position requires extensive clinical duties, leadership in performance-improvement, and active participation in CME and training programs to uphold patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited medical school (MBBS), completion of required period of training.
• Post graduate / Master's degree or equivalent qualification.
• Valid Certification of Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advance Life support certification as per assigned area.
• Higher qualifications in his specialty

Responsibilities

• Ensures high quality medical treatment, compassion and understanding for every patient.
• Provides patient care within the parameters of professional competence as reflected in clinical privileges.
• Practices within clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines and criteria.
• Participates in developing and maintaining medical contingency disaster plans.
• Maintain the quality of the triage system performed by the ER Nurse.
• Supervises the performance of the assigned ER physicians in the unit.
• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the range of the specialty.
• Assessments and referrals to other facilities when appropriate.
• Participates in the on-call Rota of the department for patient care.
• Upholds patient rights of security, confidentiality and privacy.
• Responds to emergencies and provides advisory support as required.
• Maintains accurate patient medical records and supervises junior staff.
• Provides leadership for quality improvement and performance measurement within the department.
• Participates in CME activities and training within the hospital and externally.

Job description

The Senior Registrar is responsible for providing care for his/her patients (inpatient and outpatient) maintaining a high-level of professional performance under supervision of the Consultant / Head of ER in accordance with:

• Professional medical ethics and CBAHI / JCIA standards.
• Hospital medical by-laws.
• Laws of Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations according to the departmental quality plan.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Riyadh Care Hospital.
• Provides patient care within the parameters of their professional competence as reflected in the scope of their clinical privileges.
• Practices within the framework of clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines and criteria.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of medical contingency disaster plans.
• Maintain the quality of the triage system performed by the Emergency Room Nurse.
• Supervises the performance of the assigned E.R. physicians in the unit.
• Performs some diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on his/her patients within the range of the specialty as per his / his privileges.
• Assessment and referral of appropriate patients under his/her medical care to other appropriate medical facilities.
• Participates in the on-call Rota of the department for patient care.
• Observes and upholds the patient's rights of security, confidentiality and privacy.
• Responds to emergencies to offer advice and actively participate with problems if required, related to his/her specialty.
• Maintains appropriate records of all patients with accurate, timely legible completion of patient's medical records.
• Supervision of duties of assigned junior staff.
• Provides leadership for performance-improvement functions in the process of measurement, assessment and improvement of both clinical and non-clinical process as part of the Departmental Quality Plan.
• Active participation in Continued Medical Education (C.M.E.) through educational hospital activities (morning report meetings, grand rounds, clinical tutorials and seminars, journal club, radiology or clinico-pathological conferences).Also, through National and International meetings, conferences and symposia.
• Active participation in training program related to his/her field and organization within the hospital for training of junior medical staff and in-service training for nursing staff and technicians.
• Continuous update of his/her knowledge in the medical field as well as continuously upgrading level of skill in his/her field of profession.
• Participation in committee meetings assigned to him/her (Quality Improvement, Infection Control, etc.).
• Abides by Department Policies and Procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, Rules and Regulations.
• Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure including documentation in patient medical record.
• They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.
• Involves the patient/families in plan of care and respects patients/families regarding their goals and choices of patient care.
• Provides health promotion and health teaching thru methods appropriate to a patients' developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture and situations.
• Allots time necessary to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families with appropriate documentation.
• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Required:

Required:

• Minimum two (2) years' experience in the specialty after obtaining Post Graduate Degree and being register.
• Current valid license to practice medicine in the area of his specialty.
• Registration in Saudi Medical Council and/or Current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia as a senior registrar.
• Five (5) years' experience in the specialty after obtaining Post Graduate Degree.
• Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities

• Competence in relevant clinical procedures
• Effective communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings
• Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in electronic health records and clinical systems
• Knowledge of computer application
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Communication in spoken Arabic is desirable.
