Job summary

Elia Grid International (EGI) is seeking a senior Power System Planner to lead master planning, RES integration, and transmission strategy in a global consultancy environment in Riyadh. The role focuses on modelling, analyses, and client-facing delivery across ME projects.

You will work with PowerFactory and PSSE, translate complex data into strategic actions, and collaborate with international teams. Fluent English is required; Arabic is a strong asset.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in Power System Planning (master planning, pre-feasibility of new transmission investments, RES integration, BESS optimization).
• Ability to translate complex data into strategic insights.
• Experience with PowerFactory and PSSE.
• Knowledge of power system economics basics.
• Fluent in English; Arabic is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and define planning principles for power systems.
• Define and validate Power System Models.
• Support grid reliability and security analysis.
• Prepare reports and present results to clients.
• Interact with clients and guide development plans.
• Supervise power system team and contribute to projects.

Typical activities involve

• Analysis and definition of planning principles
• Power System Model definition and validation
• Enhancing methodologies to plan power systems facing massive RES & BESS integration, demand evolution, and optimization of transmission investments
• Mastering links with technico-economic models to define critical operating points
• Steady-state analysis (load flow, short circuit calculations, hosting capacity, etc.)
• Dynamic stability analysis (frequency, transient & voltage stability)
• Support the analysis and evaluation of grid reliability and security (e.g., capacity calculation, balancing, operational planning)
• Writing reports presenting results of the analysis
• Interacting with clients and convincing them on the proposed solutions and development plans
• Supervising power system team and their contribution in the project
• Managing consultancy services projects
• Support the company’s business development teams in identifying and pursuing opportunities by establishing trusted relationships with our clients and developing proposals

Your responsibilities will be decided based on your competencies and expertise and will be discussed during your interviews with managers.

Your profile

• Master's degree in Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in Power System Planning (Master planning, pre-feasibility of new transmission investments, RES system integration, BESS optimization, sizing of state-of-the-art technological solutions)
• Expertise in translating complex data into key strategic insights and valuable actions
• Mastering power system simulation tools (PowerFactory, PSSE)
• Knowledge of Power System economics basics
• Team player
• Good oral presentation skills and ability to interact with international clients
• Fluent in English
• Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset
