Job summary

Dar Al Riyadh Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the Technical Office on major infrastructure projects in Riyadh. The role focuses on review and coordination of irrigation, pumping, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire-protection mechanical packages.

You will verify hydraulic models (WaterCAD/EPANET), assess equipment selections, review shop drawings for central pump stations and lake systems, and ensure interfaces with civil, electrical, and landscape disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 20 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience in technical-office management and design review for large infrastructure projects.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical-office review and coordination of mechanical packages (irrigation, pumping, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection).
• Verify hydraulic models and pump duty points; review pipe sizing and pressure zones.
• Review transient analyses and protection systems (water-hammer, relief, surge).
• Review shop drawings for central pump stations, filtration systems, lake circulation, and related equipment.
• Assess HVAC calculations, cooling loads, and energy-performance requirements.
• Review BIM models and coordinate interfaces with civil, electrical, and landscape networks.
• Prepare technical reports and advise the Project Manager on design risks and quality impacts.
• Ensure as-built records and O&M documentation reflect any field changes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical-office review and coordination of irrigation, pumping, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire-protection and other mechanical engineering packages.
• Verify golf-irrigation hydraulic models, including demand distribution, pressure zoning, pipe sizing, friction losses, pump duty points and critical-node pressures.
• Review transient and surge analyses and validate proposed water-hammer protection, air-release, pressure-relief and surge-suppression systems.
• Review and recommend approval of mechanical shop drawings for central pump stations, intake structures, filtration skids, chemical-treatment systems and lake circulation and aeration systems.
• Review clubhouse HVAC calculations and designs, including cooling loads, equipment selection, ventilation, ductwork, chilled-water systems, controls and energy-performance requirements.
• Review plumbing, water-supply, drainage, stormwater and fire-protection drawings, calculations and equipment schedules.
• Evaluate mechanical material and equipment submittals, including high-capacity pumps, VFDs, HDPE piping, motorized valves, chillers, air-handling units, filtration systems and fire pumps.
• Verify equipment performance curves, system operating points, efficiency, redundancy, maintainability, acoustic performance and compliance with approved specifications.
• Review Combined Services Drawings, BIM models and coordinated shop drawings and resolve interfaces with civil, structural, electrical, irrigation and landscape networks.
• Provide technically justified responses to complex contractor RFIs, design deviations, value-engineering proposals and site-related engineering issues.
• Review control philosophies and interfaces among pumps, VFDs, motorized valves, sensors, irrigation controls, BMS, electrical panels and standby-power systems.
• Review Testing, Adjusting and Balancing plans, inspection and test plans, pre-commissioning procedures and integrated mechanical commissioning methodologies.
• Assess field changes and ensure that approved modifications are incorporated into calculations, redline drawings, as-built records and O&M documentation.
• Prepare technical reports and advise the Project Manager on mechanical design risks, noncompliance, outstanding decisions and matters affecting quality, cost, schedule, safety or system performance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited and recognized university.
• Minimum 20 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, technical-office management and design review.
• Demonstrated experience on major infrastructure, pumping-station, building or multidisciplinary development projects.
• Proven experience working for an engineering supervision consultancy, project-management consultancy or design consultant.
• Deep technical expertise in large-scale pressurized hydraulic networks, pumping systems and automated irrigation infrastructure.
• Strong experience reviewing central cooling plants, HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire-protection systems.
• Demonstrated ability to verify hydraulic models, pump selections, surge analyses and equipment-performance calculations.
• Experience reviewing technical submissions, shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs and contractor design alternatives.
• Advanced proficiency in WaterCAD, EPANET, AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Ability to review BIM models and resolve complex multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Strong understanding of mechanical testing, TAB, commissioning and final handover requirements.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
