Job summary

Astek Middle East seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to advance energy efficiency, retrofit, and sustainability initiatives across Saudi Arabia. The role provides technical leadership in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection while collaborating with project managers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, reliable mechanical solutions.

The candidate will review designs, assist with testing and commissioning, and help prepare technical reports and project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 3+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience; 10+ years also welcome.
• Saudi Arabia or GCC experience is preferred.
• SCE registration and membership is required.
• Iqama alignment with engineering profession where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise for energy efficiency, retrofit, and sustainability projects.
• Review designs, drawings, specs, and calculations for accuracy.
• Conduct site inspections and assess existing mechanical systems for improvements.
• Support HVAC upgrades and energy optimization initiatives.
• Coordinate with PMs, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Monitor works for compliance with designs, specs, and schedules.
• Prepare reports, progress updates, and engineering deliverables.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the execution, operation, and maintenance of energy efficiency, building retrofit, and sustainability projects across Saudi Arabia. The role will provide technical mechanical engineering expertise across HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and energy optimization initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver efficient, reliable, and compliant mechanical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise across energy efficiency, building retrofit, HVAC, and facility upgrade projects.
• Review and validate mechanical designs, technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Conduct site inspections and technical assessments of existing mechanical systems to identify issues, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support HVAC system upgrades and energy optimization initiatives aimed at improving building performance and reducing energy consumption.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, consultants, and electrical, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
• Monitor mechanical works to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.
• Prepare and review technical reports, progress updates, engineering documentation, and project deliverables.
• Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities for mechanical installations.
• Provide technical solutions to mechanical engineering issues encountered during project execution.
• Support project planning, resource estimation, scheduling, and cost estimation for mechanical scopes.
• Ensure mechanical works comply with applicable Saudi regulations, codes, standards, and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering.
• Candidates with extensive experience, including 10+ years, are also encouraged to apply.
• Professional experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in project coordination, project execution, and/or project management.
• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) registration and membership.
• Engineering profession reflected on the candidate's Iqama, where applicable.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar mechanical design and drafting software.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, load calculations, equipment selection, and mechanical system sizing.
• Familiarity with energy modeling and analysis tools such as HAP, EnergyPlus, or eQUEST is an advantage.
• Understanding of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and relevant ASHRAE standards.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Familiarity with testing, commissioning, and performance assessment of mechanical systems.

Preferred Skills

• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certification.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience with LEED or green building rating systems.
• Previous experience in energy services, building retrofit, energy efficiency, or facility upgrade projects.
• Experience working on projects in Saudi Arabia.
• Knowledge of renewable energy systems, including rooftop solar PV installations.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
